It is horrible, I spent over 3 hours shoveling and cars are still not completely dug out. One guy broke his lawn tractor trying to clear out lot another guy came in and I lost track of how many hours he was here.

I did not make it to work today but found out via email that they sent everyone home at noon for 3 of our locations because of the snow. They couldn't keep even our own lot clean.

I am so going to hurt tomorrow, it is heavy impossible to move snow.

I still don't like extreme cold (-20 plus wind chill is too cold for me), but I like snow. This storm especially; it's getting us mostly on Saturday, and we don't have to go anywhere. We have plenty of food cooked, even if we lose power we'll be fine.
We first came for a summer holiday and fell in love with Canada. When Mr P got a job offer, we decided to move here and stop...

    CBC: 4 fatalities in Ontario

In Ontario, the winter blast caused long delays for evening commuters with more than 350 accidents reported in the province alone, and at least four weather-related fatalities. The OPP said a 45-kilometre eastbound stretch of Highway 401 east of Brockville remained closed Friday night after a pair of collisions.
The driver of a commuter bus was taken to hospital this afternoon after his vehicle rolled over in the eastbound lanes of Highway 401 near Brockville, 115 kilometres south of Ottawa. The OPP said some of the 38 passengers also suffered minor injuries.
OPP had reported earlier that the crash was fatal, but east region spokeswoman Sgt. Kristine Rae said later that there were no fatalities

It's still snowing in Ottawa. I think we'll have about 30cm by the time it's over. For Ottawa that's a heavy storm, but we usually get a couple like that every year. By this time in the winter I'm pretty used to snow storms so I didn't think it was that bad out there when I went to and from work today. I'm liking this winter so far. It feels like a typical Canadian winter. For once we didn't have to cancel Winterlude because of the Canal melting.

That's not bad at all. We got probably over 30cm and the drifts here were almost 3 feet high. Our cars were buried!

I wonder if hospitals will experience a baby boom around November 8-9th this year?

I just got back from the beach near where I live. I like the feeling of tramping around in unplowed snow. I love that it's just as busy at the beach in the winter time as it is in the summer. There's a huge tobagganing hill and a lot of people were skiing along the river. I saw a jogger dressed in his running gear, blazing his own path through the deep snow.
