Ya, I am thinking it is easier with a bigger family than a two person family. Lets say I had 3 kids that brings my total up to $61.25 a week. And that sounds like what I spend now, and we eat well.

But milk and cheese would have to be a luxury!! I had my oldest very young, so I know how little people live on, and I have done it. But some things are needed in a home to me that is. And I don't know how people that have to live like this can buy snacks for sending in their kids lunches.

Wow!! Yeah. I think that's the problem. Lived off about $50 a week for two when he was little and that seemed tight, it was only him and I. But now I spend $60-$70 a week for 4 and I have a growing stock pile ($60-$70 includes all cleaning products and dog/cat food). It's funny how it all changes when you learn how to effectively coupon. I am grateful for that!

The point is though that you don't survive off your stockpile doing the live below the line challenge. Anything you consume has to fit within that $1.75/person/day frame.

Honestly, this might sound rather harsh (and I am in a crabby mood, so it doesn't help I suppose), but I've lived below the poverty line. I don't need to relive it. It sucked so bad. Not having enough food to feed both you and your kid. I have no need to stress myself out like that just for fun.

I spend $20 a week for me if i don't use it all that week,i add on to the next week.I have lots of items in the freezer and only buy reduced meal or if meat is cheap that week i'll stock up.I'm a big pasta eater and many times it will be homemade soup and a grill cheese sandwich.I'm not a fussy person will eat almost anything, coming from a family of 12 you learn not to be fussy or else you went to bed hungry

I like that this recipie does not use instant milk ( that stuff is expensive!!) and I suspect that because you use 6 - 8 oz of starter is the key.
also . I love all the pictures.

    Thank you!!

And I agree 100% living with a low grocery is doable, but you cannot be picky!! I try and teach my friends, but I find them quite picky!

Lol!!! I'm not talking dog food!!!! Lol!!! We eat well, we have salmon at least twice a month, roasts, lots of chicken lately. But I stock up when I can, and not being picky is great it doesn't matter what meat is a great deal that week chances are we will eat it in one form or another. But you have to also be a decent cook too, because things start to taste the same after a while and it gets boring.

No you did not sound crabby. It is the truth. My mother must have had those thoughts... one of the reasons I sew.
