I honestly think my blood must be sweet because it doesn't matter what time of year it is, bugs love to feed on me.
While I was in New York, i somehow got 5 huge spider bites on my leg, had to go to a pharmacy and pick up some anti-itch stuff and those suckers took 2 weeks to go away completely.
Now sometime during the night something bit me, no it's not bed bugs, believe me I check all the time.
It's not a spider bite, it's a mosquito bite I believe.. how a mosquito is alive when its cold out who knows.
So I must have been scratching alot during the night because when I woke up I could see a tiny round bite.
Itching it doesn't make it better I know, but my arm is driving me nuts!
From what i've read online, if you swell up from a mosquito bite you can be allergic to their saliva!
This is definitely the first i've swelled up from a bite other than a spider bite.
I took some benadryl and put some cortizone cream on it and it seemed to help for a while.
Bendryl makes me drowsy so I feel asleep for 2 hours. When i woke up some of the swelling is gone, but it's itchy like H***.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can stop the itching and swelling?
Its hard, hot and itchy.
Right now I have petrolum jelly and baby powder on it's kind of helping I guess, but maybe I just want it to work so its like a placebo.... HELP!This thread is currently associated with: Guess

I am a bugs dream too.
Nothing ever takes the itch out, so i have resorted to scratching the area until it is a bit raw and then I put on a topic antiseptic.Love like crazy everyday and smile.

Try witch hazel. You can get a bottle of it at most pharmacies. Works great for insect bites.

Sorry to hear ... my dw is being bitten during her sleep also(works midnites) but not a nibble on me ??? and I know I`ve got sweet blood (diabetes) lol. The last episode was a series of bites on her calf, itched like crazy, turned all red and was warm to the touch. Strange ! especially at this time of year.
The voices in my head may not be real, but they have some good ideas!
I have nothing to do today and hope to be half done by noon.

I have read but never tried it, they say to dab the bite with vinegar it is supposed to take away the itch.

I have the exact same problem as you! Bugs seem to love me... If I'm outside in the summer I can get 12 bites on me while the rest of my family gets none! Witch hazel definitely works to take out the itch... They sell it at most pharmacys and it works wonders

thanks for the tips about witch hazel, i'll see if i can pick some up.
Was looking online and apparently female mosquitos hiberate in the winter, but can also be active in the winter and still bite people

Vinegar will work-- soak a cotton ball in vinegar and apply to the bite -- let air dry.
OR
Toothpaste-- has to be the "plain white kind"-- (original colgate/crest)-- put a dab on and let it dry.
OR
Dove/Ivory BAR soap-- wet the soap-- get a nice lather-- apply to bite-- let dry.

I can totally relate. The dog we used to sit had fleas. Nobody else had any bites but I was covered in them. Mosquitoes love me too.
