I was raised Catholic.
Attended Catholic elementary and high schools mostly, so I was raised in the teachings of God.
I also believe in Science, evolution, free will and the like, so I guess I am in the middle Spiritually.
I do not hold a blind faith in believing in the definate existance of God, however I will not deny the existence of God because it is an unknown, and I do not know.
With not knowing either way, I live my life feeling and believing that God is a concept, an image or a reflection of us, living our lives with good morals, values, compassion, with fault and the ability to forgive and love others. I try to live by these virtues.
does that make sense?
terrific name i _forget,
so difficult (i find) to say much on this subject,
you have said almost eveything.
thanks
Oooh.
Deep topic.
Where did this come from madchives?
moi, silly shwa girl. where else? :sweet:
This is a touchy subject, I hope things remain civil! I'll chime in with my thoughts...
I'm not really religious, per say, but I do consider myself to be spiritual. I believe in the law of attraction, positive thoughts attracting positive results, giving out more than you receive, treating others as you'd like to be treated, and that we are all here for a reason. I don't necessarily believe in God but I believe in some sort of a higher power. If God does exist, I don't think he is a vengeful and hateful God... I think that SOMETHING is definitely out there, and whatever it is can be loving and kind but is more of a guide than an answer to all of our problems. I do pray, and I believe in the power of prayer. I think that if you ask for something and DON'T receive it it's because something better is out there for you or you don't need it in the first place.
I believe in being grateful for what I do have instead of being hateful and angry for what I don't (although I forget this from time to time). I believe in fate. I believe in trusting that everything will work out in it's own time.
So am I spiritual? Yes, very much so. Maybe just not in the traditional sense :)
personally, i always think there must be something, somewhere.
(when i don't think we are just another version of an ant farm
to be figured out)
perhaps because i saw this in the sky, after my mom 'died'http://i39.tinypic.com/2rrs282.jpg
and when her last niece was born.
brought me to the brink of believing - there is
something/someone
O.k. I'll participate.
Yes, I am spiritual.
I am physical = the body
I am a thinker = the mind
I am part of the third dimension = the spritual
That's why some can say that they know that their dear departed love one is still "with them". That's the spiritual, IMHO.
Very much.
Not something I can explain very well.
But very much.
yup
edit: sorry i realized it said HOW spiritual.
well, spiritual enough for me ;)
This sort of describes it for me. Spirituality does not have to have religious implications...
Spirituality has been defined in numerous ways. These include: a belief in a power operating in the universe that is greater than oneself, a sense of interconnectedness with all living creatures, and an awareness of the purpose and meaning of life and the development of personal, absolute values. It's the way you find meaning, hope, comfort, and inner peace in your life. Although spirituality is often associated with religious life, many believe that personal spirituality can be developed outside of religion. Acts of compassion and selflessness, altruism, and the experience of inner peace are all characteristics of spirituality.
I believe, I pray..
Some people think it was the 400 acid trips I took, but once I played Black Sabbath at 78 rpm and saw God
