I made some for the first time tonight with a black bean, veggie and oatmeal base. Aside from being a bit overspiced, hubby wasn't overly impressed with the "mushy" texture. I honestly thought it was fine, but he's a meat eater. I took a look on-line and found another one that I'd like to try that is nut based, almonds and pecans, along with some veg and breadcrumbs, but it didn't have any reviews.
There are several recipes using bulgar wheat. I'm not sure if I did something wrong but the only time I tried making it to use in tabouleh i found it too chewy, so I'm hesitant to try again.
Does anyone have a veggie burger recipe that is tried and true? This thread is currently associated with: N/Anothingfancy

The other night I made Red Bean Burgers.. I though they were delicious..
In a food processor put
1 onion finely chopped
1 can of Kidney Beans
1/4 cup of Sunflower seeds (finely chopped up like flour) (Magic Bullet)
2 Tablespoons of low sodium Ketchup
1 Tablespoon of Steel Oats
1 Teaspoon of Chilly Powder
Blend it up in Food Proccesor until smooth
Make 3 patties out of it, and put on a pan sprayed with Olive Oil
Cook for 25 minutes in Oven at 350 degree's
Let cool, and form back into burgers, flip.. and cook for another 10 minutes
Serve on thin bun, garnished with cheese red onions, and pickles.
Taste very much like burito's

I used to have a Weight Watchers recipe for veggie burgers, will have to find it. It had a base of white kidney beans with egg and bread crumbs to hold it together, and I just added whatever diced cooked veggies I liked. The beans, you just mashed them with a potato masher and added the other veggies and such.
IMO, a meat lover will never mistake a veggie burger for the real thing, but they can still be tasty. The WW ones, I used to have a bit of a time making them stay together and not stick to the pan. Solved that by cooking them on parchment paper in the oven, sometimes cut them into nuggets instead of burgers. DS used to love them. I haven't made them in awhile, I think I'll do them again once I find the recipe!

I make a black bean one but I only mash up half the beans really well and leave the other half chunkier.
