We switched from Rogers (around $33/month for basic phone no calling features) to talkit.ca ($5/month) (Canadian VoIP company). Can't tell the difference (except in the bank account!). Plus we now have voicemail, call display, call waiting, etc.
We also switched our Internet from Rogers to TekSavvy (also a Canadian company). Went from $41/month to only $25/month, with three times the bandwidth and no modem rental or extra fees.
Next - goodbye cable! (Once the NHL playoffs are over, of course, according to hubby.)
Its worth spending some time doing research and switching to cheaper service providers to save money every month effortlessly!

I started using local phone for my long distance and international calls and I'm really impressed with the quality of service I received; cheap rates clear voices and easy to call. They link your international phone numbers with local numbers and that is all you need to dial; way more practical than calling cards. Too bad I wasn't aware of this offer when I signed up.

Hi Naya,
Agreed Localphone is one of our favorites. Personally we use Localphone, their iPhone app proved really handy when we are travelling (off-course using free wi-fi..)
Our gonevoip deal will continue to run and we are working with Localphone to bring some other 'specials' (stay tuned!)

Thanks! We signed up for Localphone as rates do look quite better. Though since we had used Rebtel in the past we took advantage of Rebtel's offer too. So we put $5 on Localphone (we got $10 in total) and $5 in Rebtel (we got $6.25 in total) A $10 give us total of $16.25 international calling and messaging - I think now till end of the year we are covered for our international calling & messaging :D

Since the Maple Leafs have made it to the playoffs after 9-years (was it really that long?!) thought to share this: http://www.gonevoip.ca/comwave-signs...leaf-tie-domi/

Thought to post an update here. I got an APC battery backup (about $80 at tigerdirect) pluged to our internet, ATA and phone. We have construction going on in our neighborhood and one of those big trucks knocked an electric pole power of our street; so for about 3 and half hours we had a power outage. Phone and internet kept working like a charm

So which one of these would be the best/cheapest one to switch to in Ontario? and why?

We switched to voip.com (you can read the user reviews there) I think is cheap; although when we switched there was no coupon - it was just economical to make the switch. We love the fact that is all-inclusive; everything that you need is included (adapter & instructions) the service has tons of features, literally it's ridiculous - we now have CallerID, voicemail and something we use a-lot Voicemail to Email. Plus we got Canada & US unlimited calling with an hour of free international talking each month. We are in Ontario too (GTA) and cannot complain single bit, the technical support we had to call them once, was very attentive and even followed up a couple of times to make sure the issue we reported was indeed fixed. Ultimately was me playing around with their portal whom changed something it affected voice quality; but they were quick to see/detect that and as I said followed up to ensure things were ok. Such a service we are just not used to having with the usual telecom giants he?!

As per leonidas VOIP.com is one good alternative, also you have Phone Power and Talkit. Talkit being a bit more no-frills but still has good reviews. For both of these we have $15 discount coupons available; with Talkit you have to pay to port your existing number, with Phone Power number porting is included in their plans. Nonetheless both are cheap alternatives. You can review details about each Provider on our site: http://www.gonevoip.ca
Cheers! Alex

In this Mother's Day hope all have made the call to their loved ones, whether is a few blocks away, a few miles or a few thousands miles or even overseas; mom there is just one and the least we can do is to call them up and said 'Thank You'
Here: http://www.gonevoip.ca/localphonecom...istance-review you can use these very cheap long-distance which will double your credit using our exclusive coupon. So you can say 'Thank You' and much more!
