I am sure this has been touched on before but I am so sick and tired on two fronts when it comes to trying to save in a legit way. The first is the idiots and I use that loosely, that photocopy, try to submit US coupons, abuse cashiers and put stress on their jobs, try anything fraudulent and make it bad for all of us that do things right. You should be banned from the store(s) and charged or warned if it is fraud of any type. Your action are wrong and have repercussions on the rest of us who conduct ourselves properly. The second is the ramifications of this stuff. Have any of the stores come up with a positive solution instead of coming down on their cashiers who then come down on the rest of us? Once again it is a customer service business where I don't buy and never will working with the public, policy that punishes those that are acting properly. It is bad business. I don't need to get the 3rd degree and scrutinized for my transactions that are above board by a cashier that is scared for their job because Mgmt has come down on them because of an idiot who is abusing things. Any thoughts?

*just a disclaimer in case any noobs are all what?!?!?! and start exploding my PM's shaming me and calling me names.... This is a joke post.
but seriously, people who photocopy coupons and scam the system need to get a freaking job and a life. and possibly some counselling to deal with their apparent fascination with fraud.

I am a CS Manager at SDM in Halifax and I am the one who goes through all the coupons we receive and I send them in for refund. And since bogus photocopying and even cashiers not obeying "one per person" and fraudulent coupons that have been photo shopped. My store along with 3 others in the area have been audited which is a long process and we lost a lot of money. Now we have warnings in place for cashiers who could potentially lose there jobs and we only allow one print out coupon per person and we do look over all coupons and we do refuse a lot of coupons because we aren't sure if they are legit. I noticed the Walmart near me and a few other stores now have strict rules when coupons. At my store we have banned a few ladies for fraudulent coupons and they still try to come in and we escort them. And later next month Shopper's Managers in the area are having a meeting to revise couponing in our area because of this.

Why not just educate the staff to recognize a fake coupon like fake money. The printed coupons have securities on them to help spot a fake. If you don't educate the staff then it is not fair to take their jobs. If cashiers are worried about their jobs then they don't focus on customer service and they focus more on being a hard ass at the till. Take a smart source printable coupon a legit one and print if off. Then take it and photo copy it and show them the difference.
To others that read this it is fraud to photo copy coupons, photo shop them and you could be charged if caught.

we do educate and I even print ones off that are going around and post them in the staff room. I am an avid couponer and I search the web for ones my cashiers and I know what is out there. I make a list of what is out there for cashiers too see but sometimes a customer is so pushy and so demanding and even threatening that the cashier believes the customer that is real. But now we approve coupons over a certain amount and we will still be strict. You can thank your fellow couponers out there for doing this being greedy and only thinking of themselves. People who don't obey the one per customer or per family or people who print one off and don't realize that its traceable.

Personally for me I find the issue is that we cannot find a middle ground. I understand cashiers have to follow rules but when I walk up to a cashier and they see my coupons and automatically assume I am there to rip them off check out never goes well.
I know they have a job to do but at the same time I will fight for my rights as a shopper. I have no issues with them looking over my coupons and double checking but at the same time I have a right to explain myself and if needed have a CSM come over so I can speak with them.
Couponers have to remember there are people out there who do try to break the rules so yes checking out may take longer but at the same time cashiers need to remember no everyone is out to rip them off and do not talk down to couponers and assume they are there to rip you off. I understand not all cashiers think like this just like all couponers are not there to try to break the rules. But fact is fact coupons are not going away and we need to find a way to work together.
I wish coupons would scan in Canada like they do in the US I think it would help cashiers and couponers.

Is a security code the background graphic, like on the Websaver printable coupons?
I always tell my supervisor if I think something's a photocopy, since those are bad :[
And perhaps on an unrelated note, why all the eBay hate. I've gotten lots of useful coupons from eBay - not printable ones (can get those myself after all), but things like 20x KiK coupons from tearpads, etc from far, far away i.e. BC, Alberta (and not available near my home, to my knowledge). Not all coupons are fake on there. I get pissy that people are "stealing" tearpads and selling them online under the guise as "Not paying for coupons, but my time," but might as well take advantage of it if it's only 1$. They can't be making a lot of money when stamps cost 80c.Last edited by Yusshin; Tue, Mar 26th, 2013 at 09:19 PM.
Because of fake prints, stacking manus is no longer allowed
But you can still stack Coupon Zone + 1x Manu, like other Maxi / Loblaw Stores

I have to agree with Sassy, I mean you have customers that come in and steal so do you treat every customer like a thief??? I think of myself as a considerate customer. If I have a lot of coupons I let others go first. If a cashier is taking a long time I tell them not to worry and take there time. I try not to coupon if I am in a hurry. I wan;t them to read it and I have make some honest mistakes that cashiers have caught and then I apologize terribly because I hate when I make a stupid mistake like not reading the coupon right. Most recent was the Dial printable I didn't read that it was for two products. I didn't do it on purpose. When she pointed it out I was like oh your right I am so sorry.

I have a local SDM that I love to shop at, as they still take printed coupons (GT, WM, AND RCSS in my area no longer do).
3 times I've gotten home and realized they made a mistake (in my favour) with my coupons. First time the cashier took a peelie off the product and used it, along with the printed coupon I had already given her. Second the cashier took $3 off instead of $1 (in her defense, the coupon had both amounts on it, but each was for a different version of the product). Third time, the cashier entered it as a store coupon, when it was a manufacturer's.
I know it's not the same thing, but I'm always a little terrified when I see the mistakes, that they'll just stop taking coupons altogether!

I do the same thing at my store. I am an avid couponer as well, it really burns me when I see photocopied coupons. There have been a few incidents where the person has even changed the dollar amount of the coupons and the wording. Specifically the websaver one that is for 400ml Nivea Body Care product. It was changed to $5 off of any Nivea product!! As well the .75cents off of Armstrong Cheese changed to $5 off of any size armstrong cheese product. These didn't go through.
