as far as i am aware, no, it does not work for sale or clearance items because the promo is programmed in their system
but the limit of max reduction of 50$ is rarely enforced, unless you have a cashier who is very keen on details, etc.
The promo is only good if you buy the products that is seldom on sale such as video games, electronics
