Hello! About Rep

I looked through the board and found a few topics about reputation, but they don't really explain the following scenario.

I have three stars :D and about 65 or so posts (at the time of posting) and 65ish "Likes." I have four detailed feedbacks when I click on Settings.

But I have seen users with one star and 450 posts and 150 "Likes"! Why do they not have more stars than me?

The stars have nothing to do with how many posts you have. It all depends on the reputation comments you get from other users. The more reps you get the more stars you have. Once you accumulate enough stars, then they turn into a heart. Once you get enough hearts........ well, no one knows...... no one has received enough reps to find out yet.

With the whole "like" system in place, I doubt we'll ever find out either. I've found that people hand out a lot less reps when it's just so easy to "like" a comment. There are only a certain number of reps you can hand out in a day (50) and even less to any certain member (1, then spread the reps around to 20 other members until you can rep that first person again), but "likes" are unlimited.

I like the "likes" but I don't love them. They're convenient but they're also impersonal. Too Facebooky, and I hate Facebook.
