My DD lopped off her locks, I teared up a bit as I watched the hairdresser tie it into a pony tail first. DD gave me the name and address of the place to mail it. ( A Child's Voice ) As I was putting the small packet together this morning to send off I was sending positive energy over it and imagining the child with cancer that will have this made into a wig.
Yeah, silly post, should not brag but I am very proud this was ALL her own idea.

That's so wonderful of her to do! I always wished my hair grew long enough to do it, but by the time that it does grow out, it's full of split ends that I don't think anyone wants lol.

So glad to see so many of us doing this! I only wish I could do it more often but my hair only grows so fast. I donate about 10-13 inches every two years. I'll tell you once it all gets loped off it is so freeing because by the end I'm begging them to chop it all off. Its really a lot to manage shoulder length hair PLUS 10-13 inches for donation.
I've done it twice now I believe. It took my quite awhile to have to grow out all the previously died stuff first so probably about 6 years now I've been committed.
Great job, and definitely worth the brag!Insert Clever Signature Here

That's GREAT!! I donated 12 inches in December. I wish my hair grew quicker so I could donate more often. I couldn't imagine being a young child and not having hair (or an adult for that matter). More people should donate hair, all it costs is postage
GREAT BRAG!!

a sentimental brag ... for sure made me tear up.
I had no idea it only cost postage I thought we would need to go to those on site locations where they would cut the hair etc....I have been wanting to donate for a very long time and my hair is just super long and wieghs alot and takes forever to style [ basic straight hair would be nice but no i have a forest ( literally my parrot would burrow into it and not come out for hours)] but then summer is coming along and I need the length for the upcoming weddings etc for styling purpose.
Its amazing that your daughter thought of that all by herself and grew her hair for that!

That's awesome! Love reading these type of brags I actually just chopped off about 12 inches of my hair the other day and mailed my ponytail off this morning!

you should be proud, my oldest son did this when he was 11, the pictures are a riot as we had to do 13 ponytails right as his scalp. He was going to a buzz cut so we wanted das much as we could get. I can't wait till he has a Facebook account so I can post them for his friends to see. I should do it as well. My hair is really long and I need a trim. that would shock the heck out of everyone.
