Well our community came through and we managed to take in $1300 at our church garage sale on Saturday. When we're done, we "Pay It Forward" by sending the unsold goods to a second hand store in town - a group called "Feed the Children - A "Breast Buddies" group that features Breast Cancer survivors who enter Dragon Boat Races - and another church which is organizing a Book Sale.
We also contribute to outreach of the church to such fundraising as "Habitat for Humanity."
The love goes on and on! So when somone donates a shirt or a few glasses to be resold - they are helping so many people! It's just amazing! This thread is currently associated with: Garage

Wonderful! I donate to various church sales (not just our denomination) - and I love attending them, too! Always the nicest people!
There's one HUGE one here which is just a zoo - and only PART of that reason is the goods they are selling; the other is the GOODIES - the best baking ever!

avoncallingu!
That is wonderful, we had our first garage sale last year, spent months cleaning, boxing, organizing, tagging, organizers/baskets/ tablecloths, catagories, repairing, planning for tables, extension cords to plug-in, mirrors to try clothes, change to make change.............................signs outside around the neighbourhood and opened at 8 A.M. and peoplewere knocking at our door at 7. finished at 5PM as people were still pulling up then packed-up and we made alot of money and DH said next weekend and I said over my dead body and I could swear it was. We were 3 people and were not enough and I am no stranger to hard work.
When DH says there is a garage sale there and I cringe when I hear those two words. So anyone who has had one knows the work involved and you walk up that driveway with a new found respect and no bartering is involved..You want 1.00 for that broekn cup, not enough here is 2.00. Congratulations on your good work and hard work done for unselfish reasons and as you wrote the gift that keeps on giving. That's the best kind. Thanks for sharing, great job.Last edited by oscarandme; Tue, Apr 30th, 2013 at 03:28 AM.
