i'll admit i'm a bit worried about this.. a part of me thinks they are doing it just to get the business back and flowing.. from what i hear through rumors that the company took a massive hit from taking away stacking.. and i know that one of my two local stores (heard this from a couponer who also works there!) that one store was in risk of being shut down due to lack of sales..

^ I think the bigger issue is that they don't want London Drugs getting all the coupon business.

see i don't think London drugs is a coupon competitor.. LD is a drugstore with the occasional food items.. SOF is a grocery store with a built in pharmacy.. what i think has happened is they are taking a risk, business dropped dramatically with the loss of stacking and they probably lost alot of business in general.. i do know a local store was in danger of being shut down to poor salesWhen life hands you Edward Cullen...throw him back and demand Eric Northman....

I thought you only had one SOF in Victoria? LOL
I agree - the few times I popped into my SOF, on a typically busy shopping day, like Saturday afternoon, my RCSS would be absurdly busy, but SOF would be a ghost town.
But I'm also worried about this stacking. I feel so guilty going in with a stack because I know it shouldn't be taken. So I don't use it. So they still aren't getting my business, LOL

Oh and I wanted to add, around here, LD is a competitor - just not for produce. But dry goods and pantry items, you betcha!

You should bring in their latest coupon policy and ask them if they adhere to corporate. I suppose every manager can reserve the right to follow policy.

nope we have two.. though one was very anti-stacking(esq) so people often forgot about it, there is one on blanshard (often called Uptown location-the name of the new complex it's beside) and one on wilson street (often called esq location)
it's the blanshard one which was having super slow sales.. but i do sort of understand why.. a super walmart opened in the complex right across the street so people who are doing grocery shopping tend to head to the walmart location vrs the actual grocery store.
i might be in the minority... but i don't think SOF is THAT over priced.. their regular non-sale shelf price is no more then your average NON-SALE price at any other non-discount grocery store (compared to safeway regular price, thrifty foods regular price..) you can't really compare their prices to say walmart/no frills/superstore which are discount retailers.. for me it's all about the sales is what drags me into a store.. and their sales arn't too horrid (and hey they carry dairyland milk for maybe 10c more then walmart lol)When life hands you Edward Cullen...throw him back and demand Eric Northman....

I agree with you - we've frequented the Blanshard location many times (my inlaws live in the Western Communities) and I think the opening of the new super Walmart would have a negative impact on the SOF. Not to mention that it's in an awkward location with the "one way" streets, etc.
I also think the prices at SOF are comparable. Especially with sales, etc. It's not "THAT" expensive. I think Safeway, IGA, Thrifty's are more pricy.
