Neat stockpile.
OP, did you get a good deal on the Mason jars?
I like the way you store the grains and such in the jars (first few pics).
I look up recipes in advance to making something. After looking up recipes I then do a youtube search on how to can the product. I have subscribed to several ladies on youtube that have been canning for over 20 years. I have a pressure canner to handle meats and low acid foods and the rest is done in a water bath. I am very careful about canning procedures.
There is a certain parts per million of insects that is considered normal in food products. My biggest concern is living in a apartment building. Just the thought of potentially loosing so much of my stockpile due to a infestation was keeping me up at nights so i fixed it. Bugs can spread from package to package and they widdle their way through plastic. Sharp and pointy things like pastas do not vacuum seal well. They poke through and unseal the packs.
Excellent stockpile!!! Would love to know what's in some of those jars!! I made 21 jars of salsa, 65 jars of tomato sauce, 16 jars of anitpasto this year along with a few other things. My old italian neighbour put all her canning jars in her blue boxes for three weeks in a row. I scored more jars than i will ever use. Gave them to my niece who also loves to can.
I love it, I am so jealous of all the canned goods ( in a good way of course), I just don't understand canning I read a lot of stuff about it and I just can not wrap my head around it, And so very organized it is beautiful :)
Great work on the stockpile! I too, love your canned goods- I have been debating whether or not to get a pressure canner this year, and your pictures are making me lean towards making the investment and just going for it. I'd love to have homemade soups, meat sauces etc. on hand canned, instead of just in the deep freezer.
Thanks for the pictures- sometimes all the stockpiles start looking the same, and I wonder why mine doesn't look like everyones.. yours reminded me that we should all just stock what's right for our own families, not just what we can get a great deal on :)
Beautiful! I just love seeing stockpile pics.
ok here is a list for you...
Black beans, green chili, pinto beans, red kidney beans, peach jam, grape jelly, strawberry lime jelly, pineapple jam, marmalade, strawberry jam, blueberry syrup, lemon lime slices, strawberry peach mango pie filling, strawberry rhubarb pie filling, blueberry pie filling, strawberry pie filling, apple pie filling, peach BBQ sauce, red pepper salsa, orange slices, honey garlic sauce, plum sauce, carrots, red chili, mixed pickles, pickled carrots, pickled hot peppers, potatoe carrots and onions, turkey soup (noodles are to be added later as per canning procedure) potatoes and onions, turkey precooked and cubed in turkey broth, raw packed turkey (it gets cooked completely on the canning process) turkey broth, beef roast with garlic and onion soup mix, pork for making pulled pork fast and easy, ribs done in a broth of onions garlic brown sugar soy sauce and liqid smoke. Beef cubes hamburger percooked, mushroom spaghetti sauce (I am allergic to tomatoes) and last bit not least BACON!
On a further note I do have a pressure canner for meats and low acid foods. I am very careful to follow canning procedures and I recommend researching and educating yourself in safe canning procedures before you start. (sighs... I so need to make some Lemmon curd!)
Thank you! To me this is the highest compliment possible. I can not only for financial security, I also can stuff ahead for when I am having a high pain day. I can have many meals that are healthy ready on 10 minutes or less. Things like pulled pork Sammie's, amazing Shepard's pie made with the cubed beef, tacos, stiffing with turkey and craisins in it, fajitas, ribs with mashed potatoes, turkey with black beans and corn with my red pepper salsa and a shot of mustard in it served over rice (my daughter calls it Mexican rice, I call it yummy). We rarely eat out and we just don't need to.
When Iger asked if i an a extreme couponer i always say no... My stock pile is nothing like there's. As most couponers on this site know, you don't have to be extreme or live by others standards to save money.
Lol any typos are because I am on my phone.
