ExpiredA long time ago a SC member asked me for used stamps. I thought this was kind of weird but I began saving them for her and when I had an envelope for her I messaged her. She was no longer a active member on here so I thought I would set out to find a charity to give my used stamps to.
I've finally found somewhere to donate my used stamps to. Thought I would post it for whoever is interested:

Here's the address:
Stamp Programme
Oxfam Canada
39 McArthur Ave
Ottawa, Ontario
K1L 8L7
If anyone has any questions please message me and I can do my best to help. I've already sent a few envelopes to them.

How the money is raised
Those used stamps and envelopes can add up. Oxfam Canada volunteers raise at least $10,000 annually by sorting and selling stamps to collectors. About $300,000 has been given to Oxfam from the Stamp Program since it started in 1980.
What you should save- Everything!
- foreign stamps
- Canadian stamps
- commemorative stamps
- Keep the entire envelope if there are:
- clearly identifiable town/village postmarks
- registered/special delivery postmarks

I have a few people on SC who have been sending me stamps that are less common - other countries, older ones, less common Canadian ones. I started with this to help my mom who carefully cuts them out - you need 1/2 inch of paper around each stamp and then she donates them ...they eventually help support children in a small village in Africa. I receive about twice a year that shows how much they raise - this is a small charity so maybe $3000 and what they buy. Often dried peas and other staple foods and medicine.
I think Canadian Cancer Society also collects stamps.
Something to think about when you trade - buy books of the themed stamps - right now there's packages showing the Chinese gates in Canadian cities and SPCA animals. Place your stamp a little ways in and down to make it easy to cut out the letter. I had to train myself to open the letters differently to leave enough paper around the stamps.
If you're sending a bigger envelope package - they do have high dollar stamps like $5 - there are some nice ones - deer and other animals. These are very uncommon so great ones to use - usually they print up a label.

Thanks for the info Giving-Small. I've never heard of cutting the stamps so there has to be 1/2 inch of paper on all sides!
