In my opinion, there is no wrong section for a good brag like this one. Sorry to hear about your situation. I was there a few years ago, but, women with children they are strong and will bounce back stronger.
At one point in my life I had to go to the food banck and back then I was so happy of a service like this one. I always give to the food banck. Even more now since I started couponning.
Thank you to be strong and sharing with us. It take's lots of courage to talk about this. I sure wish you the best of luck and I too would like to help if you need anything. Let us know and please dont be shy, just ask. We are only a pm away.
Take good care because we care...........

Since you are a first hand observer in this perhaps you can tell us some of the things that food banks really need? I know we all donate tons of pasta and sauce and smellies. razors etc., but what are some things that are needed but never seem to be donated?
Thanks for posting about your situation, I hope things get better soon.

I'm sure hoping things get better for you soon!
We were stuck for a time years ago in a bad situation and had to make use of the food bank, as well. Once we were back on our feet, we have always donated as much as possible, as often as possible.
Patty, most food banks have a list of their most needed items.
The Saskatoon Food Bank currently is noting they need
- Infant formula
- whole grain pastas and cereals
- canned fruits and vegetables
- canned meats and beans
- 100% fruit juice
- hearty soups and stews
They have also begun giving out gluten free food baskets, so are requesting those items as well.

Wow! I'm getting an INSANE response to my post here, and in PMs...thank you all so much for reading, offering coupons, asking questions...this is great!
Patty Smith-- I will let you know more after I go again I was told by a "regular" that it was a "bad week" my first time...I told him I appreciate any free food! I'm personally hoping for even more fresh produce to be there...but it could always use more exciting things that I would bet the kids would like (I thought no one "like me"- whatever that means , WOUKD be there but plenty of single moms my age). I think tacos and fun stuff WOUKD go over well.HOHOHO ‘‘tis then season for trading
