All Purpose Rant Away Thread - 3.2.1 GO!

My mother pitched the idea to start using photo album pages for holding coupons instead of our current system, I told her we can't possibly do that because she has a tendency of putting things down upside down etc. which would lead to the coupons falling out (which isn't an issue with our current system, but has been a major issue in stores with our previous systems).

She got mad at me for shooting her idea down and went off about how I am so rude to her, literally saying that I treat her like garbage for making an L with my fingers (sign language for loser of course) and she started to cry. My father and I always do the L with our fingers as a joke at each other so I have no idea why she is suddenly so offended by me doing it to her, when she gives me the finger all the time.

I argued back that I wouldn't be so short with her if she wasn't always ignoring me (she literally sits there on her new iPhone for hours at night and refuses to acknowledge my existence until it benefits her). And her only defence to me saying she ignores me, I quote, was her saying "I don't want to hear this right now".

I hate how we fight about nothing, we can't have a simple discussion without one of us feeling victimized :/

I can't complain about my kids school for that. last year it was great, i picked her up every day after school right at the classroom and got to talk with the teacher for a few minutes if need be.. i usually got an update once a week and if there was a incident i got a phonecall or email that day.. but this is a new teacher to the school, and the school is still figuring the bugs out so to speak with the whole school building transition, and transitioning back into the class from the teacher strike (basically strike ended thursday evening and they were back in class on monday)

My toddler got a cold for her birthday and decided to share. She was sick for most of last week and now she's sick again :(

we went out for groceries after dropping ds1 off at school but before dh had to leave for work. dh decided to buy himself a 50$ xbox card so he can pre-order some game and get some additional content for a game ds1 likes. we get home and when he goes to input the code the system says the code is not active. he had to go to work so he doesn't have time to deal with it now... I told him to take the card and the receipt back to the store when he's done work and tell them to either activate it properly or give him his money back... he doesn't get off work until 9pm so I'll update this rant later.

UPDATE-dh went to the store after work and they claimed it was activated properly (I wasn't there but that pretty much sounds like they were calling him a liar imo.) but anyway after a bit of insisting they "deactivated" the card and refunded him in cash. since we paid debit I got free scene points. dh said he is going to buy a new card at future shop later today where they know how to activate a card properly.

Update2-dh bought one today at toys r us when we went for the play event. he used my phone in the store to enter the code online (in case it had the same problem. even though the first one was bought at a different store) it worked properly and as a bonus the game he was going to buy went on sale today for 4$ off.

Still have ear infection after 3 weeks, women problems, and now my two kids have a nasty ass cold, stuffed nose, coughing up frogs. My doctor is 2 hours away on public transit, closest walk in clinic is only open on the weekends and my mother is on vacation and for the life of her she cannot volunteer to watch my kids so I can go to doctor. I am too stubborn to ask for help, cuz I figure after me telling her on the phone everyday how I feel the least she could do is offer to help. I know back in the day she had to deal with 5 kids all under 5 by herself but damnnnnnn.

I have an appointment with a specialist next week. My nerves are a bit rattled because of past bad experiences with a few other doctors. I shouldn't let it bother me. Keeping positive thoughts.

what part of pick up only do people not understand. I'm selling a little tikes castle slide from a smoke free pet free home that has always stayed inside. I originally listed it for 75$ expecting people to try to lower the price (I want 60$ for it) I got offers for 25$-45$ so I changed it to 60$firm and stopped getting people trying to lower the price but it doesn't stop people from ignoring the pick up only part that was the same before the price drop... we don't drive and will not be walking a huge toy across the city for people!

Update- Had someone message me they wanted to pick it up today. He showed up at the right time and paid the asking price. (i made sure dh would be here just in case)

totally agree. my kid was bitten and no phone call home. hope things settle down and that your DD is ok.

her school is currently doing seismic upgrades on the building so the school as a whole (same teachers, staff, name ect..) has been transferred to one of the empty schools in the district it's why she takes the bus with many of her friends.. in just the last few days there has been such a disconnect between the school and the parents it's insane there's no communication, they lost the bus forms for many students (they didn't have my daughter's registered or two of her friends) and they sent a kid (one of my daughter's close friends) on the WRONG bus (there are two drop off locations) many of the parents who's kids bus have never even seen this school (i only have because i made a point to on the friday as soon as the strike was over)

unfortunately i can't pick my kid up from the school every day (and i do think bussing with her friends can be good for her) but you can bet i'll be there on Friday to pick her up and have a few words with the teacher about the kicked incident to me that is NOT ok to leave it up to a 6yr old to tell their parents "mom i was kicked in the chest at school today" to the point where there's still a mark 6hrs later. it takes 2 minutes to make a phonecall or even send a email if there is an incident i want to hear about it!

My mom is so unreasonable and never fight fair, she's can be verbally abusive and attack me for no reason and if I lose my temper and talk back to her she would remind me that "I am not allowed to talk back to her no matter what" and worse she would cry and curse and call me nasty names...

I usually just ignore her and walk away (she would keep going on and on until running out of steam). If I have a dollar for dealing with her unreasonableness I'd be a millionaire by now.

^Decaf-glad you DO let your mother know what her effect is on you even if she does not acknowledge. Backbone building event.

Rants-fluctuating temperatures, family members who waste my time, no Harlequin hero to distract me from this week's lack of contest wins, instant or grand. Stepping down from the soapbox...

Lol, I came here to rant about my sore throat and ended up ranting about my mom.
Got a severe sore throat when I woke up in the morning. Couldn't drink or eat until after I took an Asprin, can't chew, slightly move my tongue or swallowing my saliva with cause sharp pain. Headache is gone but now I have a fever...this is the second time I have this kind of sore throat, it's only on 1 side so weird. The base of my tongue hurt. Last time my tongue bleed under skin and I was put on antibiotic and it went away. :icon_scratch:

I wish the government offer flu shot in September instead, last year I also got sick around this time.

i would be livid if my kid to BIT and i wasn't contacted (i get it.. it happens..my daughter's Kindy teacher says it happens atleast once every year but it has to be dealt with!)




my update.. went talked to the school and the teacher... the teacher didn't report the incident to the office because she didn't think it was a bit incident.. my daughter came to her crying they talked for a moment then she calmed down and teacher thought it was all fine and didn't look into it more she just thought it was kid going down the slide my daughter got kicked becuase she was at the bottom... when.. (after talking over and over with my kid and her friend who was there) it was a case of my daughter was sitting on the slide facing upward wanting to climb up it well this kid at the top didn't want her to do it and instead of asking her to move he slid down and kicked her in the chest which made her fly backwards landing on her back on the wood chips(it was done with intent, because the boy who kicked her had to raise his feet off the slide and aim them at her chest) for a kid to get kicked in the chest children have to be facing each other i'm not too thrilled that the teacher did not follow up and question the incident more between the kids (or even think that for a kid to be kicked in the chest kids have to be facing eachother) but we talked about it and i made it known that i'm not too thrilled about how the situation went down (lack of incident report filed in the office, lack of contact to me) and i let her know that i'm not going to be a stranger parent because my kid takes the bus

When end I was younger I was hit by a car during lunch. It knocked me to the ground and hurt my knee. The driver offered to take me to the hospital but I said I had to go back to school. So I was driven to the school and the office asked if I wanted to go to the hospital and I said no. I was sent up to class to put ice on my knee. When I got home I was the one who told my parents what happened. The school never called them. First of all they should have been notified right away and been asked if I should go to the hospital I was in grade 8 so obviously shouldn't have been able to make the decision myself. (I was scared if I went to the hospital I would be in trouble for not being at school.)

if something like that ever happened with my kids I would probably sue.

8 a.m. on Saturday morning. Drilling. Again.
