You can't make everyone happy!

IF i was given the option if quietly putting them into kids backpacks i would have gone that route i'm sure it would have been a better way to go.. it was chaotic..

what is done is done... i'm now hoping to get RSVP's though i have a feeling that i'll be trying to ask the parents at the end of next week if their kids are going to come.. though if half of them don't show up i'm not going to make a big deal about it.. those who want to be part of her birthday will show up.. and i'll be prepped for all kids showing up (currently sewing drawstring bags for them to paint, will do up enough goodie bags to have spares just incase i like being over prepared vrs under prepared)

When I'm having a great time at the womens show, in line at the dr.oetker pizza booth, lady in front of me spots coupons for the taking and takes an ENTIRE Tear pad of them!! The greed! My mouth just popped open, and said ''Really???" she side glanced at me and scurried away.

Seriously it is almost 12:30 and my mom is not up yet. This is completely messing up my day as I am trying to be quiet and cannot get done what I had planned for today because she is still in bed.

Come on time to get up especially since she was supposed to be going out giving me the house to myself to get my stuff done without interruption. (Sometimes she cannot see me as a 29 year old and will stand over me and tell me how to do things dishes, cleaning, etc)

Car insurance companies are such scammers!

I was signed up with Aviva for 2 years - first year was 279, this year was 314, my premium is supposed to change November 7 to 370 a month! Thats with no accidents, no tickets.

I made some phone calls and ended up getting 159 a month from Bel air direct LOL

I called Aviva to cancel and the sales woman was like ' Well, our premiums are super competitive so if you ever want to change, keep us in mind '

Noooo, thats ok.

The schools are really getting out of control... seriously!! I totally understand the bullying issue.. Kudos to them... On the other hand, forcing people to invite classmates they don't know or enjoy being around and not keeping them back a grade when they don't achieve the level of knowledge they need to keep up in later years is setting the child up to have a life of failure. In life, you won't like everyone, not everyone will like you. You are going to be excluded from all sorts of events and activities. If you don't learn to handle "failures" or "perceived slights" as you grow.. you will never develop a true sense of self and will end up not being able to adapt effective coping skills in a work, school or family situation.

Schools need to think about the long term consequences of this forced inclusion.

exactly!!
children need disappointments in life they need ups and downs they need to fail and make mistakes these are key things to learn from and help kids grow.. we've protected kids for so long that some kids don't know how to fail and they don't try.. mistakes are perfectly ok they are learning experiences (along with "life is not instant" one i'm regularly reminding my daughter) i do think schools are walking a fine line with bullying and just general disappointment (it's a new world from when we were kids with the internet, bullying doesn't just stay at school anymore it can follow you and haunt you) i'm all for protecting my child but there comes a point where i can't protect her from everything and they needs to learn that you can't have it your way all the time

I dated this rather eccentric introverted wealthy lady 30 years old this summer, I found her enjoyable but it did not work out, no hard feelings.

So she calls me at 4AM and is crying and wants to know why I rejected her!!! But I never did, she mostly stopped responding to me, I took teh hint and moved on. I think she was hoping I'd become her stalker or something. Very strange. I asked if she wanted to meet and talk about it today, and she hung up on me. Then just now, she sent me a picture I took of her without text.

I have no idea what she wants. I think I understand why most women around here do not like her. Oh well! :shock:

It is all about child development.

There is a difference between a 6 year old and a 10 year old when it comes to self esteem, understanding and emotions.
A 6 year old is going to handle the rejection a lot differently than a 10 year old would.

All of these "lessons" need to be taught over time, and all "kids" cannot be lumped into the same pile.
I would never treat a 5 year old like I treated a 10 year old, but they are still "kids".

yup i completely agree you have to treat a 5yr old different from a 10yr old but.. but still a 5yr old needs to learn it's ok to make mistakes, it's ok that you don't win every time, and there are disappointments in life (you can't be part of everything, invited to everything, win everything) and kids need to learn it's ok to fail at a young age and that you just keep trying.. i would NEVER be ok with my child being negative towards other children (we teach her everything is different) when a child gets rejected (and i hate that word because for the birthday invite situation no child was rejected it was was a situation where kids invited were limited by the venue) or being left out it's a great time to talk to your child about it.. it's a lesson that will be repeated throughout their whole life (playgrounds, teams, jobs, even couponing groups and parenting groups.. pretty much any activities with a social aspect) i remember being the youngest and the older kids would run away from me because they didn't want to play with the "younger kid" and i watched the same thing happen to my daughter at a family gathering last summer it's just part of life (and we used it as learning tool)
