Oh boy, some people need to lighten up a bit! I was only making an innocent comment on some other people, but this old lady at work got envious and started making remarks meant to put me down. How rude!

This year they have it so you can take a bus to the casino and transfer to a taxi (just show your bus transfer or monthly pass and there is no extra cost for the cab) for a drive to the zoo instead of transferring to another bus... So what's my problem this sounds great doesn't it. NOPE it means I will either have to take 2 car seats with 2 kids on the bus and have nowhere to put them after. (car seats won't fit in the lockers at the water park and I don't think the zoo has a storage department.) Or I will have to bring a stroller get out at the casino and put ds2 in and have ds1 walk with me for about 20 minutes to get to the zoo. I can take the kids to the zoo with the stroller and some walking but not to the water park as a stroller won't fit in the lockers at the water park and I can't risk it getting stolen since I would then have to walk back to the casino with 2 kids, a bag of wet clothes, a diaper bag... I guess we won't be heading down to that part of town at all this year and that just destroyed a lot of my summer plans.
Around here we can request a cab with car seats, it usually takes a bit longer as they have to pick them up from the dispatch I guess...but its something to look into.

Nvm, it's probably a cultural thing. Some cultures are prone to hating when others do better than them, and they celebrate the misfortune of others. I should distance myself from these negative people.

parents to who only suggest expensive items for birthday gifts when you ask "what would your boy/girl like?" i'm sorry i'm not spending $30-40 on your child who my daughter barely knows and only plays with occasionally at the park

and to make it even more annoying you get to the party and during gift opening you see that they only bought their kid markers and paper for a gift (not that there is anything wrong with markers and paper.. but don't expect your guests to spend more on a gift then you THE PARENTS do)

Or when they say something generic like "They like dolls, cars, books, action figures etc" but can't/won't tell you the brand(Barbie, Hot Wheels, Marvel etc).
As for the present maybe they gave the kid more expensive presents before/after the party? We always give the big presents on the kids actual birthday and save one or two cheaper presents for the party.

I'll have to ask if that's an option and make sure the transfer is still free if it is.

Family members that see a stockpile as a free-for-all or a free-pass to be wasteful or a glutton. First it was a 2kg roast that I bought to cut up into chops for two or three meals. It was frozen (without my knowledge) and the next day, quickly defrosted on a whim, in the microwave where it got partially cooked so had to get cooked all at once and by then, didn't even taste all that great because it wasn't marinated long enough and was partially cooked before being put into the oven. BUT, I let that slide. Accidents happen right?

Now it's two boxes - 16 pizza pops, GONE. Finito in a matter of days. Heck somebody (who will remain nameless) even tried to eat two for BREAKFAST this morning even though they were getting them in their lunch and then later in the day, took some for an afternoon snack! It's like waking up from amnesia.

I remember why I stopped couponning years ago. It was resentment. Resentment about working hard to find the sales, the coupons and buy the stuff, bring it home, etc., and think we're getting ahead only to have to restock the exact same thing instead of being able to stock up on something else we need. That's one frustrating hamster wheel to be on.

I'm not willing to quit again because the savings are potentially (so long as we're all on the same page here) phenomenal. So after I calm down, we are going to have a lecture on couponning, stockpiling so we can ride out the time between sales and about saving money. I'm fed up. Especially since I'm the only one that does the work, the planning and buying and transporting and organizing et al so we can save money. So they can either get on board or I'm using the entertainment and eating out budget to buy some sturdy bins and good locks for the store room - and when I get a freezer next month, locks for that as well...if they get bored, well they can stare at the bins for fun. Ha!

Ugh. We have a rusted rocker panel on our Jetta. Literally, a section of paint just separated from the panel and revealed a nasty rusty section about a foot long that it had been hiding.

I've taken it to the dealer who said on behalf of Volkswagen "no, that won't be covered by warranty, but go to this body shop to get it fixed." I was not impressed but, hey, went to the body shop who said "Yeah, we could fix that for $1200 or $1500 but that's too much work to do, just get a can of Tremclad and spray it over." Excuse me? I took it to another body shop, recommended by a friend. They were shocked that a 6-year-old car had this much rusting given how well-maintained it is otherwise. The manager said this totally should be covered by the corrosion warranty and thought I was just getting a real run-around.

Now I've contacted VW Canada to try and get the warranty coverage honoured or at least a honest look at the problem, not a glance and dismissal! But if they're not fixing this, no way am I taking it to the first body shop. Can you imagine what a good job they won't do?

i can work around not having a name brand... though it is helpful but it does leave it more open ended for choice (you don't have to buy the $35 monster high doll.. you can get a significantly cheaper but similarly looking $12 doll, or mega bloks vrs name brand lego-which all is compatible) and give me more then just 1 option "if you can really find this very specific pokemon stuffed animal that she really wants that would be amazing!" only to get to the store and see it's $40. sometimes it's hard buying a generic gift because you don't know the parents style (i know parents who refuse to let their kids have plastic toys, or are against all name brand toys, or think that barbies are evil because they project bad body images... or don't dare get the kid any sort of gun/bow and arrows/nerf shooting toy because it's violent and they don't agree with that) what happened to buying a gift for a kids birthday being easy and just something the kid would have fun with

Regular, normal people turn into crazy road hogs behind the wheel! Why is that???? I almost got run over Saturday in a crosswalk because someone wanted to turn left and saw a break in traffic. He looked right at me then lurched ahead into the crosswalk. Then today the city was doing work on main street and had one lane closed. They put the signage far ahead so people have the the chance to merge over into a single lane but a good 25% off the people take it as race ahead and try to merge in as far up as possible. Well I'm a libra and that's not fair so they can just forget about me letting them cut ahead! grrrrrr lol

The proper way to merge when lanes are narrowed to one is called the zipper technique. Both lanes of cars should drive as far as they can to the point where the one lane ends, then merge alternately, just like you close a zipper. Merging too early just causes the traffic to back up in the one lane and potentially cause problems with cross traffic and cars getting stuck in the intersection.
