I heard about those lawsuits on the news again last night. They are trying to get them certified by a judge so they can go ahead with the suites. It's funny that the USA has pulled Yaz & Yasmin from all shelves in all pharmacies and aren't selling it anymore. Yet in Canada, we are told it's safe???? What's up with that! This one really riles me because 2 of my daughters were on this, they were taken off by our family Dr about 6 or 7 months ago when he started to hear rumors about both medications. I just thank goodness for having a family Dr that has known my girls since they were small and cares enough to not want to take any chances with their lives.

This just makes me sad. I survived SICU with severe DVTs and PEs in 2007...it is complicated.

I recently heard about this as well I have web on Yasmin for 5 years. I take it consecutively so I only have my period four times a year. I just hd an appointment with my doctor And he said it is fine. I also smoke regularly. I don't know what to do I heard that coming off them is worse and lots of health and mental problems when coming off them. My mother is bipolar scizodisorder. I am really scared of what to do. On top of that I gain weight very easily and am scare to go onto another one As twice before I have gained -5 plus pounds from trying other ones. I am only 22 but this scares me a lot. If anybody has some advice for me could you post here or pm me.

US lawsuits
The first trials were scheduled for early 2012, but the judge postponed them to encourage settlement talks. Later that year, Bayer reportedly agreed to pay at least $110 million to settle hundreds of Yasmin and Yaz lawsuits. The settlements were estimated at $220,000 per case. Settlements have continued. According to reports, by July 2013, Bayer had settled 6,760 cases for $1.4 billion.
As of August 2013, more than 1,000 MDL cases had been resolved, and more than 9,800 cases were pending.
(MDL is multidistrict litigation)

I could find no recent information about any cases proceeding yet in Canada.
