I'm sure the Smart Canucks community and it's inhabitants are no strangers to Random acts of kindness when it comes to different areas of the website and forums.
What is the nicest thing a stranger has done for you?
What have you done for a stranger lately?

I have been blessed with many acts of kindness from people and am very grateful indeed.
The last meaningful (other than buying the person behind me their coffee LOL) act of kindness I did was to donate a YMCA membership to a singlemom and her son who could not afford things of that nature.
This is a good reminder that I am due to due some more acts of kindness. Thanks for the reminder Dan

Something I saw on TV yesterday and since it's a thread on kindness, thought it was a good place to post it.

Watch the video till the very end and this will put a smile on your face
You can also browse the website. It's full of good things.
As for acts of kindness (more about good manners to me), if I see someone is heading to a door and has his arms and hands full, I would rush before that person and hold the door, and if there's a door ahead, I would do the same again.
Once, my MIL had to be taken to the hospital at 7pm and my SIL and BIL went with her, leaving FIL with 3 kids under 5 years. Although I don't like my in-laws, I told DH we should go and give a hand. I bathed the kids and got them ready for bed. They came back from the hospital at 11pm and the kids were asleep.
From others: my neighbour always mows our front lawn, fertilize and reseed. In return, we water his plants and give him tomatoes and beans from our veggie garden.

I feel like my "acts of kindness" tend to be towards animals... can an animal be a stranger? I have been donating frequently to the local SPCA (empty coffers), and I've been feeding/trying to find a home for a stray cat. Probably not quite what I generally had in mind. I bought everyone a round of shots on Saturday...? ugh, I don't have any good examples.
As for what has been done for me recently? Not super "random" but very kind. My parents picked me up on Saturday night after going downtown (I'm a grown woman!). Honestly, that's all I've got.
Man, I need to get my kindness meter going, for both giving and receiving.

when my daughter was little, and I was purchasing a coffee at second cup, the man in line in front of us insisted on buying my daughter a small fruit juice because she reminded him of his daughter and his daughter doesn't live with him.
that is probably the only time i've had an actual stranger just do something unexpected. In 2020 I had 100 FREE Grocery pickups! Subscribe to PC Optimum Insiders & get 25,000 PC Optimum pts

Recent kindness.... this past winter, driving in the middle of the night on the Belknap Indian Reservation, Montana, I ended up in the ditch, with lots of snow.... 3 young men pulled over and got me out of there. Very nice young men!!

I am a giver, always have been always will be. I truly believe that there are more important things in life than money, things like happiness and love.
I always donate food to the SPCA, I gave Ds2s old bicycle to our local children's centre, pay for the coffee order behind me, etc. If I see need, I give.
last night I was on my way out of the lcbo with my camping gear and I required a big box (my poor liver) and it was heavy. As I get to my vehicle, I was struggling and some kind lady offered to get my keys out of my butt pocket and open up my rear door for me so I did not have to put my shopping down in a puddle of water. Now that was kind.Love like crazy everyday and smile.

Ok I just re-read this lol. What have I done? I thought it was just what has someone done for me.
I do little things here and there, mostly I volunteer my time. The last time I gave something to a stranger was last week, spare change.

Patty, your post made me tear up. I remember many pictures of her as a much littler girl. Look at what her mom has taught her about giving to others!
