An appraisal came in on one of two family farms my husband co-owns with 2 sibs in the US. If they go ahead and sell it will be a very nice inheritance from his paternal grandparents. Even if/when we get the money I don't think I will drastically change my frugal ways!

I got 6 lbs of mangoes and mandarins for free at Flashfood. A couple of the pieces of fruit were bad so I got a refund. I think that would make a nice fruit salad. Along with some apples and bananas I already have.

2 lbs of mandarins on Flash Food for 1.75. Bonus is they were from South Africa rather than the US.

Was visiting family in Calgary and stopped at their Walmart to find lots of 4-litre jugs of milk (5 days before sell-by-date) for $2.50 each. I would never see this kind of pricing in Edmonton. I bought 3.

RCSS had 8x cans of Thai curry soup for $0.70 each. I've never had it, but figured I can't go wrong for that price.

My Girl Friday at Walmart sent me a message while I was visiting another Walmart. She told me that a fellow staff member had told her about the Rib steaks being sold for 50% discount ($6.50/lb). She offered to hold some for me, but that they were selling quickly. I quickly walked back into the Walmart I just left and picked up 5kg (9 steaks) for $75. [The meat manager said that they had to re-price 800 steak packages for the discount.] It was a good thing, too, since the WM she was working sold out quickly and there were none left, when I arrived. Alas, no room in the freezers, but I managed to jam them into crevices.
Also got a 4-litre jug of chocolate milk for $3.34, with a 3-day sell-by-date. Had to pester the workers to do the discount. My food may not befit a king, but I eat like a horse.
