I called them yesterday for my elderly parents' account.
I was told multiple times that they couldn't reduce the phone rate
because it was their most basic rate, an 'access account', meaning
absolutely no bells and whistles, just a phone line to be allowed to
be reached. Well, then I hit on the magic trick, just mentioned that
I might call around to find a better rate, and I was instantly connected
to their Customer Retention department. He too said the same thing,
but I insisted I wanted a deal for my parents, and he finally relented
with a $5 per month discount for one year. Since the access account
wouldn't allow
for a promo code to be applied, he instead gave a one-time credit
of $63 to the account, basically two months free. I was quite pleased.
Thanks knitting nurse for the head up. Because of your brag and the heads up from lotsofsavings for Sobeys gift card deal, we got:
$150 in Sobeys gift cards to get 200 bonus Air Miles (~$21.00 in Air Miles Cash)-- the one that can be used at Freshco (CAUTION: there are two kinds -- regular Sobeys gift card and Sobeys gift card with many more stores)
Cashmere Ultra Lux TP bought at Freshco and paid using the gift cards bought at Sobeys
The TP is $1.00 after coupon but, with the discounted gift cards, the actual cost is about $0.86 per pack. The regular price of this TP at Freshco is $5.99. Savings of 85% if my math is right.
