I like to understand the thinking behind things too. In our house, we have 5 cardholders, dh and I with PC World Elite MC attached (neither of us received offers), 3 university students with no credit or debit cards (one received the offer). The one that received the offer likely has the most used card, she goes to Provigo twice a week (her university is in Quebec) and I also "borrow" her offers here in Ontario. Currently she is home for the summer so it's being used maybe once a week at most until September.
Good shopping today, spent $75 at SDM on Brookside profiting about $60. Thank you to all the generous posters who were on the ball and posted about this.
I'm sorry I'm still really new to all this.. does this mean I got the offer, and I can use on any flavor? Or just the 2 pictured??https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...08c89c1823.jpg

I have a brain buster for you guys.
WUS $75
24 x Brookside bars @3.29 = $78.96 + tax(11.84) = $90.80(OOP)
12 x 4000 = 48,000 in-store points
24 x 4000 = 96000 personal offer
WUS $75 = 25000
Base points = 1250
Total points earned = 170,250 - 90.80 (OOP) = 79,450 points worth $79.45
WUS $125
38 x Brookside bars @3.29 = $125.02 + tax(18.75) = $143.77(OOP)
19 x 4000=76,000 in-store points
38 x 4000=152,000 personal offer
WUS $125 = 45000
Total points earned = 273,000 - 143.77(OOP) = 129,230 points worth $129.23
The difference of WUS is $50 ($125 - $75). So with tax (QC) is $57.50.
The net points of $75 is 79,450, the net points of $125 is 129,230, the difference is 497,800 for a value of $49.80, not even breaking even. This totally does not make sense to me. I'm doing something wrong.
Someone please go over my math, but from my calculations, you are not making more money by doing the WUS $125 which is why I did the WUS $75
My question is, are you losing money by buying more? That's why my calculations does not make sense to me.
No, you are getting your money back in points plus making more.
You are basically spending an additional $52.97 ($143.77 wus $125 minus $90.80 wus $75).
You are getting back:
274,875 points wus $125 (273,000 wus $125 above plus 1875 base points you missed)
-170,250 points wus $75
= 104645 additional points for spending an additional $52.97
So you get back $104.65 in additional points. So the first $52.97 back is free additional chocolate, the additional $51.68 ($104.65 - $52.97) is free money in your pocket.
The only variable difference between your two transactions is the points for spending the particular dollar amounts. The points per item are constant.
For 25K WUB $75 you are getting 33 percent in points back.
For 45K WUB $125 you are getting 36 percent in points back.
I didn't check your math, but just looking at the dollars and points means you are assigning no value to the 14 additional bars from the larger purchase.
Personally, while it's somewhat simplified, I'd basically look at it as the 24-bar deal, plus 14 more bars. When I do this, those 14 bars cost $57.50 more and I get nearly 50k more points. So if conveniently treat points as equivalent to cash, those 14 bars cost $57.50 minus ~50k, making them a bit over 50 cents each.
Then, the key question seems to be whether I think 14 bars are worth at least the incremental cost of about $7.50 within the context that I plan to buy the first 24 anyway. How good a deal this is within said context is a matter of personal opinion.
Thanks to everyone that posted about this deal.
I went to four stores in my area and only one had any left. They had 26 bars at a total cost of $96.66 and i got a total of 182275 points back
