If you are in Atlantic Canada, what do you think of this sandwich?
are they real lobster meat in there? or just those fake crab meats??
Absolutely Disgusting!!! YUCK YUCK and YUCK...LOL...
I think it's real.
Tell me what you think -- see video

Personally, as an Atlantic Canadian, I think it's an overpriced lobster roll, at $6.99. Of all places, McDonald's should be cheaper than the local seafood shack, where I can get one with more, fresher Lobster for about the same price.
Subway's lobster sub isn't much better price-wise either. ($7 for a six inch, or $11 for a footlong... with crazy pricing for double-meat... a double meat foot long is $21) -- prices are set by the restaurant, however because they are a buck or two different at 3 different locations around town here.
But that's just my opinion.
It's 100% real lobster meat. The sign on the POP in the stores claims to be anyway. At least here in Atlantic Canada. But then again, we can walk out of our front doors and pick up lobsters off the front steps around here.
Lobster is one of those things that is absolutely 100 times better fresh from kill to pot to plate (sorry to be blunt). That's why it's not uncommon for seafood places to sell LIVE lobsters. Because if you eat it right away (after cooking) it's best. Frozen, chilled, and preserved lobster is no where near the same experience.
The longest I'd store cooked lobster in the fridge is two days. (like it would ever last that long around me anyway)
That being said, I know McDonald's isnt boiling and shelling lobsters in their restaruants. So whatever McDonald's is doing to ensure it's getting to your plate without spoiling, is taking away from it. I suspect they must be freezing it, or some such. But it's not the calibre of 'fresh' by any stretch.
I'll also add that McDonald's used to add celery bits for "texture" in their lobster rolls. While not unheard of, this is sheer blasphemy IMHO. Not sure if they still do, mind you. However, nothing more than a touch of mayo and a bit of salt and pepper is all you need. Some lettuce on a buttered roll (garlic butter is even better!)... and you're golden.
Thanks for the review,bhlombardy.
We're in Ontario so we can't "walk out of our front doors and pick up lobsters .ff the front steps." You guys are lucky.
If they have a coupon or a 50% deal for the McLobster, will try it then.:)
OMG OMG OMG OMG FINALLY!!!
Thanks for posting!
To everyone saying this is expensive: Lobster rolls in Toronto cost $10 and they use tiny Dempsters hot dog buns. This is a great price
EDIT: Had the Quiznos one yesterday and it was SOOOO salty. Didn't taste at all like the one last year
people are usually pickey if their sea food is fresh....good luck getting fresh lobster at mcdonalds
Ontarians: please post sightings of this. List the main intersection and city so we can help each other find it lol. Excited to try. Much cheaper than going to Nova Scotia!
