Bread with maple syrup, really? I usually have maple syrup in my cupboard, but have never used it on bread.

What he said! French toast is bread dipped in egg/milk, fried and THEN you put on the maple syrup. I've made that lots of times, never ate just plain old bread with maple syrup (with or without peanut butter ).

In rural Cape Breton where I grew up, we didn't have such luxuries as real maple syrup. I remember we always had a bottle of corn syrup though!

omg Zonny, my mom's from New Brunswick and that's what she would use, Corn Syrup! We weren't hot on the Corn Syrup so she gave us Maple Syrup instead!

Wow, I've never had maple syrup, either!

I remember as a young kid going over to a friend's house, and when it was snack time her mom made us a sandwich - one bread folded over, with butter and syrup. It seemed odd to me, but gee, when you're hungry, you eat what you are given!

I'm shocked at how many ppl have not had real maple syrup! I guess I never realized.
I remember as a kid our school taking us to a maple syrup farm in the winter - we watched them get it from the tree and then we all got to try some they would heat it and put some on a piece of clean snow for us (at least I hope it was clean snow haha).
I buy my maple syrup from Costco - last us long bc we only have it with pancakes or french toast and we don't have those often. I use it for baking as well sometimes instead of sugar.

Maple has an overpowering taste for me. It's good if you want a maple-flavoured dish, but if I put maple in anything else it drowns out the taste
