has anyone tried those hot insulated food jars at wal mart?I've been planning to get dd one for school,their just so expensive. Wondering if the cheaper $9 ones work or not? I'm sure i'm just shelling out a extra $4 for there being barbie or a character on the funtainers.
It's well worth getting the Thermos brand, for sure - character or not.
We would get a lunch kit for our son which had a small Thermos food container with it.
I see the Thermos branded ones are called Funtainers now - worth the extra dollars because of the stainless steel.
Some of the cheaper ones are for cold only.
i got a cold food one last year,sorta was hoping to get a hot food one this year because she may eat at school a little more often and stuff now. Ya,that's my dillema...all the thermos ones that i can find are funtainers. There's another brand in the wal mart flyer advertised now (well i couldn't see a brand name could be thermos for all i know)wondering if those work or not.
I'm trying to remember where we got ours. I have a stainless one that is the right size for a kid, we use it probably every week or two. Before putting hot food in it, I fill it with very hot water for awhile to warm it up. To be honest, I've never tested it, but DS (who is seven) tells me that the food is still pretty warm five hours later when he eats it. We don't do hot food all that often, but he loves leftover cheeseburgers from the bbq, although never likes them flaming hot. Be sure to put your child's name on it, whether with Mabels Labels kinds of things or some other way; my DS has a bad habit of leaving stuff at school, and you don't want to lose costly things like these.
Funtainers are on sale at RCSS this week for $10.47.
... yes the funtainers do- we have a Batman one- half size, great for lunches. I put hot water in the container while heating up the lunch. Then dump the water, dry it, and put lunch in. Even in the winter it's still warm at lunch time. Going to get another one this year because we fight over who gets to play Batman for the day. lol (kidding. He always wins) I haven't tried the cheapie ones. Worth the money, though IMO
