That was pretty crappy of her, for sure. I'd be *issed, too. I check out my local one once in awhile but never considered these kind of scenarios. Guess I'm still a little naïve maybe, believing in common courtesy, fairness, etc., in people? Awhile ago I had set up an appointment to check out a massage chair but changed my mind that day and texted to let her know I wasn't coming. Her text back was so grateful it was sad that she felt that way.

Lot of times lobby has a security guard , security cameras , more traffic ( people coming and going )..a stranger inside your apartment is a whole different thing :(
^^^ I agree tjthemanto. I was going to say the same thing. When we lived in a condo I would not even buzz in the UPS guy. I would meet in the lobby and open the door when I got there. I hate the idea of strangers in my house. It's not the safest idea.
That's a shame, especially on top of the stress of moving.
If you want to keep the table, or resell it, try taking it to a glass and mirror place. They can trim & bevel the edge for a reasonable price, making it look like new. We got an large window pane cut down to size for under $20.

So sorry that you went through all that trouble for nothing, and then to end up with the same furniture, only now worth so much less. Less to be learned by us all, ALWAYS get paid in cash up front before we try and be a nice person and help the purchaser out.
I like others would always ask for cash up front before she decided to try and load it into her small vehicle
