Anyone Shopped for Surprise GC - Mon Sep 30 promo? - Update after Shopping :)

I am going to get milk today plus a few groceries from SDM... in hopes to use 8000BP WUS $30 in food items coupon. Wondering if I buy $20 more... would I get the surprise GC! :shrug:

Is the GC a hit and miss... meaning you may also get 'Better luck next time' message? :confused:

Ok... so I did go for my shop with the aim of getting only $30 worth of food stuff. The moment I entered, I asked one of the reps if I can double dip on email promos and the GC promo and she said it should be ok. So first I finished $30 in food and then moved on to get the fillers. Heres what I finally purchased! (as usual - scanned Manufacturer coupons in the end to be on the safer side. Email coupons had to be scanned at the same time though)

2 x Homo Milk - 5.27 each
1 x Hersheys Dark Choc and almonds - $4.79 (ouch! when I already know another SDM has it on clearance for $2.99) - $2 (to be claimed from CO51)
2 x Activia plain yogurt tub - $3.69 each - 2 x $1 off
2 x Quaker Oatmeal - $1.99 each
1 x Cavendish fries - $3.49 - $1 off Coupon

8000 BP from email promo

Now the non food items (fillers)
1 x Colgate Toddler Toothpaste - $2.99 (sadly I didnt have any coupons)
1 x Clear Shampoo - $5.99 - $3 insert coupon
1 x Clear Conditioner - $5.99 - $2 tearpad coupon
2 x Royale Tissue boxes - $1.49 each - 300 BP WUB2 - Email Promo
1 x Pampers Easy Ups - $10.99 - $8 off - Email promo
1 x Crest pro health toothpaste - $2.99 - $2 off - Email Promo

Total after coupons - $44.11
Taxes - $3.23
Total after taxes - $47.34 - $2 CO51.

Total Points earned: 9580 (worth $10)
Plus I got Surprise GC: $25

Doing my Happy Dance... :excited: First time used so many email promo coupons along with bonus events... love love love SDM and this location... everyone is so knowledgeable.

It can be hit and miss if you use manu coupons to bring down total (the cash will tell them to issue the card, but they may fuss) but they should take bonus point coupons without issue

You're guaranteed to win some $$ off (highest chances of the lowest amount).

Like FallenPixels says though, if you use coupons to bring your total below the $50 mark, the cashier may not give you the card, even though they are prompted to do so.

i used some bonus pt coupons ending up with 6570 in pts and got $15 card

I am always afraid to partake of these non-BP events for fear the cashier would reject my deal if I'm under the threshold after coupons. To those for whom this has happened to -- did you call 1800Shoppers to have it fixed or just forget about it?

Re: the first part of your post, I wonder if they're trying to get people to blow their points before Loblaws officially buys them. There is a promo several times a week now.

re: the second half of your post, I try it, if the cashier refuses and the supervisor won't help I just go to another SDM later.

Takes less time than waiting on hold 20 minutes the last time I called SDM. They were nice, but long wait
