Walmart has fresh atlantic salmon fillets in the packages. I've never tried price matching either but I took a picture of their policy and they will match meat as long as its the same grade so I will give it a try.

Your Walmart allow pm on their ground beef?? just curious.

According to their policy they do grade for grade. Haven't tried yet as I was well stocked but down to three packages.


I used to live in Scarborough so never had issue with finding cheap meat. Moved to Oshawa 2 years ago and we have no Asian supermarkets here so it can be expensive. I would stock up when in Scarborough.

Will try to PM beef and salmon tomorrow.

Walmart had been more strict on price matching lately on their meats. Now they require the ad to say "Fresh Atlantic Salmon" in order to pm with their salmon. If it only say "Fresh salmon fillet", it won't work. Same with their beef, the ad have to say "Angus" in order to pm with theirs. For their ground meats, they are sold by the unit, not by the lbs, so it will be difficult to pm them.

Well I didn't get a chance to price match today...instead I was at the right place at the right time...just as they were bringing out the discounted meat. Since it all had a best before date of tomorrow they had it all marked down by 25% asked the guy if they could do better on the price. After a little begging I managed to get the manager to reduce my pickings by 50% off retail (they had tons of this stuff to put out I doubt they will sell it all)

I got two packs of maple leaf chicken legs (18 legs in total), about 1.5kg of beef/pork mix and a large salmon filet just under 800g all for just over $21 before tx (can't recall if there is tax on it or not lol). Happy dance! It's all been vacuum packed and in the freezer

Managed to get the most amazing cashier too..I PM'd a bunch of stuff with those Asian supermarkets and she was awesome about it. She even price matched a few of my items for me without me asking. It was possibly one of the best trips to Walmart ever. If only the $1 produce cart was full I'd have bought a lotto ticket lol.

I see what you both mean by the beef being by the package and not by weight. Most don't even have weights indicated. I can see how this is going to be a problem. Grrrr

If the package has a pre set price but still has a weight on it you should be able to price match it. I usually have the calculation done in advance and show the cashier the ad and then tell them how much it works out to. Never had any problems.
