thanks for posting that link lecale, it puts so many of the pieces together. Wow, what a family, not so sure the voters ever really knew the man behind the mask. This thread will most certainly see more posts thanks to his antics before election day in October.
I read the book Crazy Town by Robin Doolittle out of curiosity and it was also enlightening to see this family. It also gave insight in how he was elected, which I never really knew because I didn't live in the city at the time of the election. It also gave insight in how and why the Star reported or didn't report certain things.
I have also heard from people who know some of the Fords and they are not a pleasant group of people and are very elitist. I have no other way to describe it but there is a cult like loyalty that is expected of those associated with the Fords.
happy birthday rob -
kidding, can't explain how embarrassed i am to live in a city that thinks he should ever have been mayor.
apparently he was to show up online to his toronto bday party but doug cancelled that, so

That place is a bar in the same way swiss chalet is a bar....its a restaurant that serves alcohol and also has a bar. It isn't necessarily the defining feature. This is just stretching the truth and exaggerating
If it is the same Crabby Joe's that I was at, it's not really a bar, but more of a restuarant with a bar area. It's no different than like a Boston Pizza that has a seating area and a bar. When I was there, lots of kids were also there so I kind of feel like this story is being made into more than what it is. Headlines should really read "restaurant" not "bar."
That is rather misleading to call it a bar, but why would we expect the media to report it any other way? It is their job to make headlines when Rob doesn't, lol!! Happy Birthday to him.
in case anyone wants to (or knows someone) the call is/was out - (could be over, who knows)

apparently he is to be out of rehab any day now,,
oh goody just in time for him to say once again he is a homophobe, granted in other words - family vacation - cottage
every year.
So he gave quite the "forgive me for my sins" speech I have a disease blah blah blah. Anyone buy it?

I'll take his word that he's working on his addiction issues. But I'm sure that rehab didn't fix his racism, misogyny and homophobia. Honestly, what Ford needs to is not seek re-election (and maybe even step down now). He says he is going to keep working on it but I think the pressures of public office are a trigger for him and frankly, he'll never get better if he's still in the same environment. Cutting ties with your dealer is often not enough, many times you need a complete change of environment. And from experience, I have a hard time trusting addicts, so no, I won't be giving him a second chance, not with something so huge as the future of a large city.
