Hi I am thinking of buying a Dyson Stick Vacuum and I am wondering if anyone has bought one? Are they any good? Are they just as good as a regular Dyson? do they clean hardwood floors too? Thanks

Good question, re: the hardwood floors. I'll be moving into a new house shortly (Nov. 16th) with hardwood floors and I don't want them getting scratched/dented up from the vacuum. People at work recommend Swiffer, but I have heard the chemicals in Swiffer pads are not healthy for our furry friends' paws.

The Swiffer story was a hoax I think. http://www.snopes.com/critters/crusader/swiffer.asp

I've had one for a couple of years now and find it very easy and convenient to use. I like that it is so light and simple to empty. The only drawback (for me) is the fifteen minute charge; I wish it was longer. I would buy another, though. Best vacuum I've ever had. Good luck!

I don't have a dyson so I cannot comment on this brand. However I do have hardwood floors and use a regular vacuum. The brush head is full of bristles all around the edge so it doesn't scratch the floor. I have not used a Swiffer on hardwoods. Often I take a damp cloth to wipe up stains, works well, doesn't damage floors.

I'm thinking of a cordless vac for my hardwood too, hard to keep ahead of the dust bunnies and I hate sweeping all the time!
I had a Roomba, it was great while it worked, sucked up all the dust and dirt. But its battery went kaput, apparently a common problem. I'm very reluctant to purchase another, as I don't think that problem has been resolved and they are not cheap! We have mostly wood floors, only carpet remaining is on the stairs going to the basement.Last edited by Zonny; Sat, Nov 30th, 2013 at 03:51 PM.
