I have also done taste testings with Contract Testing for years. I've done them both in Calgary and Vancouver. They are very professional and their tests are fun! I've tested everything from a new type of Tim Horton's sandwich to salsa to giving my opinions on product packaging for juice.
You basically sit at a table, fill out the survey, and raise your hand each time you're told to do so in the questionnaire which at that point one of the researchers bring you a new sample of the product, etc. It's pretty easy and I find it interesting.
At the end of it all, they browse through your questionnaire and make sure you've completed everything accurately. Then they hand you a white envelope with your money in it!
In Vancouver their testing facility lately seems to be the Croatian Cultural Centre.
