On Friday evening, I had hung up my winter jacket and winter chunky grey wool knit scarf together on a hanger in the Goodlife change-room and left to do my workout...someone had the audacity to steal my scarf, leaving me to freeze and walk home without it Thankfully she did not steal my winter jacket.
At first I thought maybe someone mistakingly took it, but you would have had to purposely unravel it from the hangar and my jacket to take it.
Person who stole my scarf..if you read this, you should be ashamed of yourself! I'm sure you already own and can afford a scarf given that you can afford gym membership.
It wasn't a very expensive item, but it was mine, has my DNA allllll over it, and it was comforting (like a favourite sweater).
Person who took my scarf, if you do by any chance happen to read this, please return it to the front desk. You stole something that you "wanted" that I NEED.This thread is currently associated with: GoodLife Fitness

That really sucks, you should think about buying a lock and using the lockers. (I assume they have some there, they do at the one I go to)
Next time it could be your winter coat.

This makes me so mad! Not just the stealing, but stealing winter accessories in the cold, leaving people to freeze

People steal from gyms and their change rooms all the time. Never leave any of your belongings open to the public.
Get yourself a lock and a locker next time- though I've known people who have had their locks cut while working out and had high end items stolen.
For those who drive, keep whatever you can in the trunk on your car! Sorry this happened to you.

As you said you are lucky they left the jacket. One winter they stole a lady winter jacket and it was mid winter. We help her look thru all the lockers, no jacket to be found. Last year my goodlife had a real problem where someone was actually breaking the locks on the locker and stealing stuff. there were police notice all over the locker room.

Thanks for the comments - reading them and airing out my thoughts makes me feel a bit better! So thank you.
I usually bring a lock, but had forgotten it this one time so thought it'd be safe to leave my jacket and scarf while keeping my expensive stuff on me. I just don't understand why someone stoop so low as to steal someone's outerwear especially when it's freezing outside..the jacket and scarf I hung up weren't high end, and I find it kind of icky how someone would steal a scarf... it has my breath, germs, and likely some of my cold virus on it!

I just don't understand some people... :/ people who go to the gym can afford membership, yet they go around stealing things like scarves (amongst much more expensive things like phones, higher end stuff, etc)..

Arrgh! I hate when people steal things. I would definitely report it to management or a front desk so they can keep track of past or potential future thefts.

ohh i hate that! i remember once when i was showering while camping someone stole my SHOES! thankfully left my towel and clothing but really.. my shoes? and it's not like i could have put the stuff in a locker (they only had a small counter table outside the shower to put things on) only to find them later thrown in the little swamp area outside the bathroom/shower building
then when you go to have a shower in the "family" room because hey it's safer and your stuff won't get stolen people get snippy at you
it makes me very paranoid about leaving anything out of sightWhen life hands you Edward Cullen...throw him back and demand Eric Northman....

Someone actually did steal my down jacket from the Goodlife change room (at Yonge & St.Clair). This was a few years ago.
I had a locker, but it was small and I didn't want to cram my jacket in. I saw other people had left their coats (including some leather jackets) on the hangers, so I figured it was safe.
Wrong.
I bought it at the Goodwill so it didn't cost me much, but this was a day in February during a cold weather alert.
I notified the gym staff who were sympathetic but couldn't do anything.

Thanks for the comments and letting me vent out my frustration! Theft makes me so mad - Airing it out and reading comments is helping me let it go and learn from this.
so sad that there's people who do this...apart from leaving valuable things at home, a couple of things that might help me in the future:
- install mousetraps hidden in my stuff
- put female hygiene products around my stuff to gross people out enough to not want to touch it
- strategically put dabs of superglue around stuff so that if someone tries to take it..they're glued to the floor/locker (sucker)!!
- bring my ugly unfashionable stuff to the gym that nobody would want to steal
all kidding aside, I'm disappointed that there are selfish people who go around and do this. In the meantime I'll purchase a similar new scarf to replace the favourite stolen one, lock it up, and leave the valuables at home! :/
