They did the same promotion last year. I received the email since I subscribed to their newsletter. When I was in store I was asked to bring the print-out of the entire email. I took a second trip back to the store with the print-out, and they asked for my phone number to pull up my file, frowned, saying that I hadn't made a purchase in the past 12 months and their promotion was for appreciation of one's patronage. It was really awkward. In the end I was still given the lip balm but I certainly didn't enjoy the whole experience. I guess YMMV depending on the individual SA you run into.

If they treat people in that way, they will have many complaints especially to their corporate head office.

1) An email does NOT state you have to make a purchase.

2) An email does NOT state you have to print out that.

3) An email does NOT state you had to make purchases before this offer.

If they invite people to get a free gift for a New Year, so they have to treat their customers as a good host. No good treatment, more complaints, fewer and fewer customers! That's a rule of business! And if they have a business, they have to hold that as the most precious stone in the world, especially in these hard times when more and more companies are going down.

So it's better to give away some lip balms with a smile than have loads of complaints.

Thanks for letting us know about this Mia!---But I think I will pass as well. I went during the last promotion to Yorkdale location and the sales associates there were less than friendly if you came for a freebie.

I just wanted to add that this lip balm surprisingly contains wheat germ, so if you have a problem with wheat/gluten, you won't be able to use it.

The SA @ the robson street location wasn't That friendly cuz I had only $10 dollars in my pocket! Duh! I told her I might be back with someone who has a much bigger budget!

Since I was at Yorkdale anyway last night, I figured I'd give it a try, didn't realize when it was over, but the rep gave me several samples AND a $15 GC for any 2 products to be used in January! I thought that was quite nice of her considering she could have just told me it's over she & didn't have to give me anything.
