dear rockco!!
You are so smart!!!!!!!!. I am still struggling with how they do the coupon processing still is done at the cash, I'm sure I am not the only one -may I bug you for breakdowns to teach me mostly but I am certain will help everyone. We had a few Targets open here and they were following policy and found one that didn't and gave overages and more than 4 did not apply there as I read happens at many but now Ottawa is back to policy all around..so..my question is:
1. What is the process if you have a manufacture coupon ( and PM)?
2. What is the process if you have a Target and Manufacture coupon (and PM)?
3. What is the process if you have a Target coupon (and PM)?
~Using this example so we can follow an example:
1. Purina Cat Chow 3.00 Target coupon for this week:
2. if a sale at WM (fiction)..for 5.49 a bag.
3. and if we have a 1.00 Manufacture coupon?
what is the process with the above possible scenarios-what does a cashier do with this? and how can I figure this out on my own at home?? It is not as easy as it should be and is not always a great deal..just when I had to learn the right way I found the laxe..location so problem solved...NOPE...back to square one..don't get it and until I get it and explain to DH..Target is a nice memory to drive by...
Thank you so much for your help and everyones too and posting deals and new catalinas....

1. If you have a manufacturer coupon with a PM, the price match will take place first and then the manufacturer coupon will be applied after taxes are calculated. You will have to pay the taxes on the full price of the item as manufacturer coupons do not discount the price before tax. The transaction would be as follows.
PM Walmart for Purina Cat Chow for $5.49. $5.49 x 1.13 (taxes) = $6.20 - $1 manufacturer coupon = $5.20
2. If you have a manufacturer coupon and a Target coupon with a pm. The Target coupon would be applied first. (Let's say the price at Target for the cat chow is $7) The Target coupon would be scanned first, making the new price $4. The price match would then be made making the new price $5.49. The Target coupons CANNOT be applied after price matches, it will always be applied before the price match. After the Target coupon and price match, taxes would be calculated. Then finally the $1 manufacturer would be applied last. The transaction would go as follows:
Regular price Cat Chow = $7 - $3 (Target coupon) = $4. Now price match Walmart making the price $5.49 x 1.13 (taxes) = $6.20 - $1 manufacturer coupon = $5.20.
As you can see, pming Walmart in this case would actually work against your favour as the price match will always be applied after the target coupon regardless if the PM makes the new price higher/lower.
3. If you have a Target coupon and pm, the transaction would be the same as in #2 where the Target coupon would be applied first, and then the PM second. Transaction would be:
Regular price Cat Chow = $7 - $3 (Target coupon) = $4. Now price match Walmart making the price $5.49 x 1.13 (taxes) = $6.20
I will add two more example transactions to make it easier to understand
4. In this scenario you have a Target coupon and will NOT be price matching at all. The transaction would look like:
Regular price Cat Chow = $7 - $3 (Target coupon) = $4 x 1.13 (taxes) = $4.52
5. In this scenario you have a Target coupon and manufacturer coupon and will NOT be price matching. The transaction would be as follows:
Regular price Cat Chow = $7 - $3 (Target coupon) = $4 x 1.13 (taxes) = $4.52 - $1 (manufacturer coupon) = $3.52
This all may seem confusing, but the main points to remember are:
1. Price matches will always be made AFTER the Target coupon is applied, regardless if that makes the new price higher/lower.
2. If you use a Target coupon, the price of the item will be discounted before taxes are applied thus saving you money on taxes.
3. If the discount that a Target coupon would give you is GREATER than what a PM would give you, always use JUST the Target coupon and DO NOT price match.
4. If the price match would discount the item more than a Target coupon would, DO NOT use the Target coupon.
5. NEVER use a Target coupon AND do a price match because one of them always cancels the other out.
6. You CANNOT price match an item THEN apply the Target coupon and manufacturer coupon. The Target coupon is always the first in the transaction.
7. ALWAYS use a manufacturer coupon if you have one.
I have tried my best to simplify all of this, but if you have anymore questions please feel free to pm me and I will answer any questions you may have to the best of my ability.Last edited by canadascouponeer; Sat, Mar 15th, 2014 at 07:20 AM.

So my Target store opened in October 2013. Then in January 2014, lots of food items on liquidation. Food expires in 3 months after store opening. How is that possible? Are products discontinued? Are these old stock from other stores? I don't understand these sales. Other stores will just leave them on the shelf at the regular selling price.

Dear god it has nothing to do with Zellers stock! lol Yes these products are discontinued, as in they are choosing not to sell them any more at Target, not discontinued by the manufacturer. Some is repackaging, like the Delissio pizzas, etc.
