Have you had it? Know anyone who has? Other options? Thanks.
My best friend had it, and just can't imagine wearing contacts or glasses now.
I would love to - but too expensive.
I really want to stop wearing glasses. I have since I was 9 and my rx is -7.5. However I am almost 40 and my rx has always fluctuated up and down, and I would hate to get the procedure done and then have my eyesight change again.
That is my only fear.
a good surgeon would not accept to proceed the surgery on you... people who have not a stable eyesight are not good candidates for the surgery....
a college of mine who wanted the surgery was denied for this reason and we talked a lot about it , i'm also a '' non-candidate'' for the surgery
A friend of mine (21 yrs old) who works in the fashion industry had to do the laser because she was tired of using contacts/glasses. The procedure itself was very simple. During the first 6 months, her eyes felt extremely dry and using eye lubricant is a must. Now, it has been over a year without any complications. The only thing is, you need to spend $$$ for this procedure.
You also run the risk of corneal thinning and a cornea transplant down the road.
...Oh.
I`m supposed to wear glasses - haven`t for years. Too cool for them hah
One of my eyes is 20/20 or better (if such a thing) and the other probably like 100/20 or worse (Do they even word it like this anymore?) I have no idea what my rx is.
I`ve noticed though my vision is getting worse so I think its time to kick the ego and find myself some Burberry frames.
Roughly how much dineros is it for say, one eye being treated? IF I was an acceptable candidate?
I had it done 12 yrs ago. Back then I was able to get it done for $3200 (and that was after a discount, should've been $4000) I absolutely recommend it, my eyes were horrible (-8.5) I recently went for a check up and now have a VERY slight prescription (-0.75 not even necessary to wear glasses for driving) but I was told that your eyes do degenerate with age so I knew eventually I'd need glasses again.
I'd still do it again, I dont regret it!
So you had both eyes done for that amount?
Interesting, so it probably wouldn`t be that expensive for one eye... I`m intrigued.
I`m surprised I`m not reccommended to wear glasses to drive. If something happened to my strong eye I`d be screwed. I can`t even see what I`m writing right now with it.
I sound like a cyclops haha
Well then. I`m going to call my optometrist today to see if I can make an appointment. Thanks!!!
Yes that was for both eyes, I had the same prescription for both. You dont need to call your optometrist, you call the laser eye clinic directly, they do a free consultation and tell you if you're a candidate. I went to Lasik MD in Toronto and was very happy with the whole process.
Candini, you really should see an optometrist, regardless. They check for eye health, not only for what your prescription is.
Things do change with age, unfortunately.... and I don't mean 'old', either.
There are also a variety of laser procedures, so you need to do some research on that. Some are better than others for particular conditions.
my daughter and her husband both had it done 6 years go she got it done at lastik m.d (I think she paid 2,800something like that -and its a life time warrenty) she is having problem with one eye they will redo it-her hubby has no problems
-I myself have cateracts-at an early age (54) so will have them removed -so same as laser eye surgery-only free for me as is a medical surgery-I will be getting it done in a few months -and i have had glasses since I was 9(oh had contact for a few years also til I scatched my eye) then went back to glasses
my mom's eyes were similar to yours - one eye has perfect eye sight and the other is almost blind. She had her eye surgery about 3 years ago and it was covered through blue cross. We have an eye clinic here at one of our hospitals and she got it done there. Most common complaints after the surgery from her and my friends are brightnes/glares in natural sunlight. So you have to wear sunglasses everytime you go outside.
