I make milk based kefir for dh and coconut milk kefir for myself. The grains I use originated in the caucusus mountains in Russia 20 years ago. You can buy grains on line but I don't have a source for them, a friend got his this way, and is pleased with it. Kefir is a excellent probiotic.

I make it once a week or so. Store the grains in milk or water in the fridge and change out the liquid every week and the grains will continue to stay fresh and multiply. Good luck!
