Sephora's Twitter account (Dec. 26 conversation) indicated that the freebie this year will change from last year's Benefit item (I recall option of mini lip gloss too last year). Must be a subscriber to Beauty Insider loyalty card well before your birthday as freebie notice will arrive by e-mail within 2 weeks of birthday.

Thanks for posting! Their website says the gift will be "Make Up For Ever" Rouge Artist Natural Lipstick and Smokey Extravagant Mascara. Looks really pretty...too bad I have to wait until April haha ;)

This is a nice reminder for everyone, thank you! I got an email about it today(ish) -- I have never taken advantage of this excellent annual offer before as I have disallowed myself the mere entrance into a Sephora store with any manner of money at my disposal because that money, in only a matter of moments, will be splayed across their counters as I bliss-weep into my tiny bag of tinier pots and exorbitantly-priced brushes and am asked brusquely to perhaps not return next year ...
This February, for that nice little set they've got going ... I'm gonna brave it!
I absolutely loved the birthday gift from last year, I would never think of using a highlighter on my face but I learned some really cool techniques to elongate my nose and the benefits mascara was such a great sample, I actually bought the full sized product. They are definitely worth it and they're free.
I'm pretty excited to try this year's birthday freebie!

To collect your birthday gift, you need to present your Beauty Insider member card and the e-mail printout of the gift offer to the store staff at cash. That is how Sephora tracks who redeems their offers.
As for gift options for men, you should inquire. I have not seen a men's beauty gift equivalent. Think it's worth asking about on social media or through Sephora website! After all, Sephora does carry items for men-maybe they have a sample/travel size of an item.

I know this isn't exactly about this thread, but does anyone know if there's a thread or forum where all of the birthday freebies are posted? I did a search, but all that came up was a thread that hadn't been contributed to in over a year. I've got another beauty birthday freebie that I wanted to share with everyone.
No, there is not a current thread for birthday freebies. The one you found is likely the last one posted trying to provide updated freebie offers for birthdays. The original one was about 3 years old (relative to my joining SC about that long ago).
