How Checkout 51 got me some free Christmas items :)
So after trying to hunt down clearance Glade Christmas candles and wax melts at Walmart to no avail, I headed back to Target to see if they had reduced the prices yet. Well, they didn't. But if I've learned anything from this website, I've learned that it never hurts to ask! I placed 3 candles and 3 packs of wax melts in my basket as I had 2 b2g1 coupons with me. I walked around a bit more, and ended up with this:
2 x white tissue paper @ 30 cents each
2 x 4 gift boxes @ 25 cents each
1 x red and green tissue paper @ 30 cents
1 x wrapping paper @ 25 cents
3 x glade candles @ 77 cents each
3 x glade wax melts @ $1.12 each
1 x shave gel @ $2
So what happened was when I asked the cashier if she could reduce the glade prices for me as they were Christmas scents, she said that she couldn't because they were kept with air fresheners and not considered Christmas items. I brought up Walmart's website on my iPad and showed her how much they were selling them for, and she price matched them! I knew they would match ad prices, but didn't know they could match prices shown on the website.
I ended up paying $8.64 but used a gift card, so technically it was all free (to me) anyway. But then I came home and uploaded my receipts to Checkout 51 and got 2 rebates of $3 on the glade (using my account and my fiancé's), a rebate of $1 on the skintimate, and as these purchases brought my weekly totals to 3 rebates on each account this week, I will get an extra $1 on both accounts on Friday. Total rebates = $9 making everything free :) or $9 earned, as the gift card was given to me as a birthday gift.
