Imagine.
Raising your kids and working in the home.
Then raising your grand kids.
And then,
working outside the home starting at 81 years of age.
This lady only missed time from work at 98.
She`s now 100 and still working.
So, will you retire at 65 or will you keep working full time or part time

I retired at 60 and have no regrets.
I had been working since I was 13 and wasn't sure if I could settle into retirement so I gave myself 6 months to see how it would go. After 6 months I was going to look for a part-time job, if I needed to. Now, after 4 years I'm happy as a clam, being retired with no part-time job.

frugal50, you are right. Some experts say that some people will outlive their retirement money. But a Smart Canuck that is good with their money can really stretch their money.

I am saving as much money as I can so I think I'll retire by 65 if not 55. That is unless life throws some kind of curveball my way that unexpectedly ruins my plans.

Wow - what a great story. It's amazing that she's still living at 100; but even more amazing that she's not in a wheelchair and is able to work at age 100 !!!

While I'm pleased the woman can finally work in the field she wants, it is astoundingly sad that she was held back by the person who is supposed to be her partner in life. I am aware of middle-aged women who have similar spouses that did not allow them to work but their home lives were not wine and roses and the women either had little or no money to access on their own. Spouses controlled funds/splurged on selves and left their wives to find out how to pay bills, clothe family, etc.
Imagine how much she could have achieved if she had support from when she got married!2021-Bring on the sunshine, sweets & online shopping.

I'd like to retire young, that being said I think young retirement is a great opportunity to take a "job" you love regardless of the pay because you planned well or even volunteer for an awesome organization! I think it's great at 100 she's still doing something she loves everyday

Well no, not whenever you want. I'm just 40-something, I'd be happy to retire now! But certainly not possible.
Plenty of folks want to retire when they're 65 or before, and it can't happen because they just don't have enough cash. I was watching something on the news recently talking about how many retired Canadian folks are having to return to work after retirement because they find they're not as financially prepared for retirement as they thought they were.
My hope is by 60 or so I'll be done working. But you do need to have something else to do, or you'll go nuts. Some I've known come back to work after retirement because they can't handle it.
