I bought the first one on sale at Canadian Tire.....never again...broke 13 months after purchase...after sale service..non-exsistent. Purchased the second one around this time of year when Sears had them all on sale for half price. I read reader reviews and made a decision based on that. It really depends who and how often it is being used. I use it 3x/week and so does my DH so our gets lots of miles. One piece of advice, get the biggest motor that you can afford. The machine works less hard that way.

Mine is a NordicTrack and it was $1200 (half price at Sears one year ago) There is a spot to plug in your Ipod and numerous present walking/running "trails" ... Talk to someome who sells them all the time and be sure to know what you want. Mine also folds but it stays up all the time to keep me motivated. I also find that watching tv helps to keep you on the thing as well. good luck!

Best bet is do your research and then buy one on kijij or in the classified ads!! So many people buy them right after Christmas, then they don't use them, you can get a great deal this way..

Buy one that folds up, and one that has an incline that you can set with a button. The difference between the one I own and the one my boyfriend has is basically that, the incline, and his is 120% more comfortable to use than mine.

But seriously figure out the realm of what features you'd like, and look secondhand. Every fifth garage sale I go to has a treadmill and I'd say every other one has some kind of exercise equipment. It's not hard to find a brand-new-barely-used expensive something for a steal secondhand, because people don't use the stuff.
