"Big Lots, Liquidation World to close Canadian retail operations including stores in Orillia, Barrie"

Looks like they are closing up shop in Canada, not just select stores.
I can't say I am surprised. I found that once the buy-out occurred, there were way less 'liquidation' deals and a lot more low quality product being flogged. I also found many of their prices were higher than other retailers on brand-name items. I actually missed the old style Liquidation World/Last edited by DianneS; Wed, Dec 11th, 2013 at 08:52 AM.
So many coupons....so little time!

I agree, big lots was expensive!! I was extremely disappointed when I went in there! Not surprised at all!

Totally agree re: old style Liquidation World! I used to shop there at least weekly, until the buyout. Now: meh. Since the buyout I have found ONE deal worth getting excited about (a 25lb kettle bell for $17), whereas that used to happen almost on a weekly basis.

agree with everyone. I used to make a regular trip to LW and when BL bought them out, I stopped going. Haven't been there since. Not very surprised either, that's what you get for being greedy guys!! We are particular consumers in Canada. (As Target has discovered as well...)

agree with everyone, some of their price was even higher than SDM. The last time I was in there saw the kraft flavour peanut butter for $3 while dollar tree across the street selling the same one for $1.25. And I was thinking they should be competing with dollar tree and dollarama not trying to out do SDM

Big Lots US is amazing. I stop everytime I go to the US. Its great for toys and household items....sometimes toiletries. We don't have it in Quebec. I don't know if they are related chains or not... visit the US biglots if you ever pass one. I just wish we could buy our furniture there. I guess they didn't price their goods right in Canada. Like so many other stores.

Big Lots take over of Liquidation World failed because they took away the American merchandise which is why Big Lots bought it.Years ago Liquidation World once had Wisk laundry detergent powder, some times had CVS and Rite Aid stuff.

Anyone else find it ironic that the liquidation store is liquidating?

And.in January, when everyone else has great clearance sales, they are still at 20% off.for store closing....no wonder they didn't make a go of it.
