There are amazing and talented artists who have really been springing up since Euromaidan started - lots of times they are featured on the FB pages. Lots of cartoons, too (mostly about Putin), which I've resisted the urge to post, lol!
Speaking of artists....
Young artists collected five hundred dollars in support of Ukrainian Army.
A young artists' initiative “The Voice of Peace” has been going on in Zhytomyr for the last two weeks. The children created postcards, posters and other artworks.
At the end of the program the artwork items were sold to adults. The children raised $500, which were used to buy radios, stationery and other items for the army.
The children were happy with the results - they believe that their help is important for the army which defends them.

SLOVIANSK, Ukraine -- In what looks like a special Russian military operation that resembles the Kremlin's Crimean invasion, masked men in army fatigues and bulletproof vests, armed with Kalashnikov assault rifles, seized the police station and district Security Service of Ukraine headquarters in Sloviansk, a Donetsk Oblast city of 125,000 people.
Gunmen also set up two checkpoints outside the city, on the roads leading to Artemivsk and Konstantinovka.
Pro-Russian extremists also reportedly tried to take the police station in Shakhtarsk, another Donetsk city. of 75,000 people. Dmytro Tkachenko of the Committee of Voters nongovernmental organization in Donetsk said that the attempt failed.
Militants also failed in their attempt to storm the general prosecutor's office in Donetsk. There are also indications that the attempts to seize more public buildings, including regional police stations, will escalate this weekend.

Today, on April 12 the Russian Federation, in fact, invaded continental Ukraine.
This was recognized by the Interior Minister of Ukraine, military experts and numerous witnesses of the latest events in Eastern Ukraine. National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine was urgently convened.
“The Government of Ukraine is considering the facts of today as display external Russian aggression,” Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Arseniy Avakov wrote on his page.
The reason for such a statement is that the weapons used by militants in Krasny Liman (Donetsk Oblast) special series of Kalashnikov guns with grenade launchers – is owned only by armed forces of Russian Federation. Some activists in Sloviansk (Donetsk Oblast) managed to capture the photo of a “green man” with weapon whose uniform looks just the same as we’ve seen in Crimea. In Sloviansk also the towers of mobile connection were destroyed, police station and Security Bureau office are blocked. Two journalists were caught by armed people, but later they were released. And the most worrying fact: the weapon storage room in Sloviansk was raided and, as a result, a large number of firearms were handed over to random people.

The Canadian government has imposed more travel bans and sanctions in response to growing pro-Russia uprisings in eastern Ukraine.
On Saturday, Ottawa announced travel bans on the chair of the Sevastopol Electoral Commission, Valery Medvedev, and chair of the Crimean Electoral Commission Mikhail Malyshev.
Canada is also imposing economic sanctions on Crimean oil and gas company Chornomornaftogaz.
Foreign Affairs Minister John Baird said that Canada "cannot sit by while Russia illegally occupies Ukraine."
"Russia's continued provocative actions in Crimea and elsewhere are completely unacceptable," Baird said in a statement released Saturday. "Canada and its allies are prepared to take additional steps that will further isolate Russia economically and politically."

One member of the Ukrainian security forces has been killed and five others have been wounded in clashes in Sloviansk, Ukraine's interior minister has said. Arsen Avakov said there had been an "unidentifiable number" of pro-Russian casualties during the "anti-terror" operation.
"This happened at one of the roadblocks set up by the separatists. They opened direct fire at security forces as they were approaching the roadbclock," an unnamed security source told a Ukrainian news agency.

Slovyansk partially cleared of occupiers
Ukrainian police officers have cleared most of Slovyansk in the Donetsk oblast.
Radio communications among the armed "separatists" in Slovyansk are being drowned out by Ukraine's national anthem. Law enforcement has succeeded in freeing most of the city, reports TSN, citing News of Donbas.
According to News of Donbas, "most of Slovyansk has been freed from Russian special services."
At the same time, in Chervonyy Lyman (Red Lyman) local residents have succeeded in driving away occupiers with St. George Ribbons (Russian military symbol) on their sleeves.
As previously reported, during the anti-terrorist operation in Slovyansk one security force member was killed. There were also casualties among the occupiers.

(note - the Kremlin denies involvement in events in eastern Ukraine)
Ukraine's president says a full-scale operation involving the army will be launched in the east after pro-Russian militants seized government buildings.
Acting President Oleksandr Turchynov said he would not allow a repetition of what happened in Crimea which was annexed by Russia last month.
His live televised address from parliament came after pro-Russian forces targeted half a dozen cities.
An urgent meeting of the UN Security Council is under way in New York.
Early on Sunday Ukrainian authorities said they launched an "anti-terror operation" after armed men took over the city of Sloviansk.
A Ukrainian officer was killed in a gun battle in the city, and there are reports the Ukrainian operation has been halted.
But both sides suffered a number of casualties, interim Ukrainian Interior Minister Arsen Avakov said.
He later said Ukrainian forces had been attacked at a checkpoint on the way to Sloviansk, and at least one officer had been killed and five others wounded. An unknown number of militants were also wounded.
