Ivan Vorobei was killed on 9 November while performing a mission in the war zone, aged only 19.

He was born and raised in the village of Dihtiarivka in the northern Chernihiv Oblast where he enlisted for contract service six months ago.

He was shot by a Russian-separatist sniper while he was trying to save his battle buddy who was also hit by a sniper. The funeral took place in his native village on 12 November.

UN General Assembly's Third Committee approved a draft resolution "Situation of Human Rights in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the City of Sevastopol, Ukraine," yesterday, November 15.

The draft resolution condemns the politically motivated persecutions of Ukranian citizens and calls on Russia to free all those who are illegally detained in occupied Crimea and Russia. Imprisoned Ukrainian film director Oleh Sentsov, Crimean activist Volodymyr Balukh and Crimean Tatar and human rights activist Emir-Useyn Kuku are designated as political prisoners.

The document affirms that “the seizure of #Crimea by force is illegal and a violation of international law” and that these “territories must be returned.”

The following countries voted against the draft resolution: Armenia, Belarus, Bolivia, Burundi, Cambodia, China, Cuba, North Korea, Eritrea, India, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Myanmar, Nicaragua, the Russian Federation, Serbia, South Africa, South Sudan, Sudan, Syria, Tajikistan, Uganda, Uzbekistan, Venezuela and Zimbabwe.

A Chinese city has ordered members of a Muslim minority group to turn themselves in to authorities if they observe practices such as abstention from alcohol.
Hami city government in the far-western Xinjiang region said people “poisoned by extremism, terrorism and separatism” would be treated leniently if they surrendered within the next 30 days.
The move comes as Beijing faces increasing international scrutiny over its treatment of the Uighur Muslim minority and other ethnic groups living in Xinjiang.

Ukraine Salutes Slain Euromaidan Activists On Fifth Anniversary Of Uprising

KYIV -- President Petro Poroshenko has headed a delegation of top Ukrainian officials marking the fifth anniversary of the start of the Euromaidan protests that began a series of events that tilted Ukraine's geopolitical orientation toward the West.

Poroshenko took part in a ceremony on Independence Square (Maidan Nezalezhnosti) on November 21 to commemorate activists killed during three months of peaceful protests in 2013-14 that prompted Moscow-friendly President Viktor Yanukovych to flee to Russia.

Poroshenko was joined by Prime Minister Volodymyr Hroysman and parliament speaker Andriy Parubiy at the Heroes Of The Heavenly Hundred memorial on the square where many of the some 100 activists were killed, most by security forces.

In the weeks following Yanukovych's ouster, Russia seized Ukraine's Crimean Peninsula and supported separatist forces who took control of parts of Ukraine's Donetsk and Luhansk regions, setting off a war that has killed more than 10,300 people.

November 21 is officially known as Prosperity and Freedom Day in Ukraine to mark the start of the 2004 Orange Revolution and the 2013-14 Euromaidan uprising.

NOW this has gotten more widespread attention in the world.

A Russian coast guard vessel rammed a Ukrainian navy tugboat near Crimea, damaging the ship's engines and hull, the Ukrainian navy said Sunday.
The incident took place Sunday as two Ukrainian navy artillery boats and a tugboat were transiting from Odessa on the Black Sea to Mariupol in the Sea of Azov, via the Kerch Strait, a narrow passage between Crimea and the Russian mainland.

Russia fired on two Ukrainian naval ships and rammed a third vessel in the Black Sea Sunday, accusing the Ukrainians of illegally entering what it claims as its territorial waters.

Ukrainian officials say at least six sailors were wounded and denies doing anything wrong - accusing Russia of engaging in military aggression.

"Such actions pose a threat to the security of all states in the Black Sea region and therefore require a clear response from the international community," Ukraine's Foreign Ministry said.

The Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) accuses Ukraine of staging a deliberate provocation.

"Weapons were used with the aim of forcibly stopping the Ukrainian warships. As a result, all three Ukrainian naval vessels were seized in the Russian Federation's territorial waters in the Black Sea," an FSB statement said.

Sunday's incident began when a Ukrainian tugboat set out to escort two navy ships from Odessa, on the Black Sea, through the Kerch Strait to the Ukrainian port of Mariupol, in the Sea of Azov.

The Kerch Strait is the only passage between the two seas.

A 2003 treaty designates the Sea of Azov and the pathway into it - the Kerch Straight - as shared territorial waters.

Ukraine says a Russian Coast Guard ship rammed and damaged the tugboat and fired at the two other ships. Russian Coast Guardsmen boarded all three vessels and took them over.

Ukraine says Russia used a tanker to block access to the Kerch Strait.

Both NATO and the European Union issued statements late Sunday urging both sides to act with the "utmost restraint" while NATO calls on Russia to "ensure unhindered access to Ukrainian ports in the Azov Sea in accordance with international law."

The Trump administration has warned Russia against trying to strangle the Ukrainian economy by harassing international shipping through the Kerch Strait.

Ukraine is now holding NSDC meeting on possible introduction of martial law over Russia's assault and seizure of three Ukrainian naval vessels in #Azov Sea.

The emergency meeting of the NSDC regarding the Russian attack on Ukrainian Navy vessels in the Azov Sea has finished. Main takeaways:

    - Poroshenko supports motion of NSDC to introduce martial law for 60 days. Motion will be proposed to be voted in on emergency Rada session today. Poroshenko calls upon MPs to convene to this session. Consultations with NATO and foreign partners will follow.

    - Martial law will not infringe upon civil liberties, will not be used for offensive operations, will not envision full mobilization.

    - Chief of Information Ministry Yuriy Stets says limitations on freedom of speech will not be imposed, but calls to be aware that enemy will attempt to sow panic and disinform through social media;

    - Chief of staff Viktor Muzhenko reports fate of UA sailors unknown, info contradictory, 23 sailors taken captive, 6 WIA, 2 of them are in heavy condition.
