I am posting this here as I am hoping it will be seen the most here, mods please feel free to move as you see fit.

Some history on this can be found here: http://www.theglobeandmail.com/repor...ticle16489050/

additional information can be found through Google search on "target breach"

The email I received is titled "Important message from Target about free credit monitoring offer" . Target is offering one year of free credit monitoring through the Equifax CompleteTM Advantage Plan to those affected. The body of the email is as follows... Each contains a PIN to enter at the Equifax site to obtain this service free. I have erased my pin # from the body, comparing it to the one on SC blog they seem to be unique.

Thanks for the post. I am confused though, how will customers who didn't submit their email, know if they qualify for this? When I first signed up, there was no option to put an email. I am hoping I can get this offer too, somehow

the thing is I don't even know how I got on the list, don't remember giving target my email. Found an interesting topic about this after a google search.... http://www.businessinsider.com/consu...consent-2014-1 after reading through it, I am left to wonder if this information was purchased by target by a third party.... wonder if Zellers sold them this information ? Hopefully more info will be released in the days to come
