This happened to my husband a few days ago, and at least according to their facebook page, this is not an uncommon occurrence for this contest!
The rim had been totally unrolled, then re-rolled up. Needless to say it was a "try again" losing cup.
When my husband discovered his, (which is so yucky-gross because someone had their fingers inside his cup, not to mention the unethical) he showed it to the manager who didn't say anything, just walked over, handed him another cup and walked away!
I sent a note to Tim Hortons to let them know of the situation, and got back a form letter saying "we work hard to maintain the integrity of our contest, thanks for letting us know".
I wonder how many of the cars and big prizes are "won" by friends of people who work at Tim Hortons? This thread is currently associated with: Tim HortonsLast edited by Caelinsmomma; Tue, Mar 11th, 2014 at 11:40 PM.

Whoops, I meant to post this in the rants forum, but I'm not clever enough to figure out how to move it.

That's awful! So unsanitary and very unethical. I'm not huge on Tim hortons but I have been there a couple of times with the roll up promotion. I really hope they can fix this problem, it should not be happening!

I actually wrote to Tim Hortons a few years ago about this. We actually got a cup with nail or bite marks on it. It wasn't even re-rolled neatly. It was.....gross.

Luckily we never had this problem. I was at a Tim's once and they dropped a small stack of cups on the floor. The guy gave them to the customers in the store to roll up instead of throwing them in the garbage. (They are supposed to throw them out but the guy didn't want to throw out potential prizes and nothing was served in them.) we didn't win on ours but the other guy won a food prize (I forget if it was coffee or a donut.)

Seems to be a common complaint. Maybe a little tear away tab on the cup would be better. One that once it's detached it cannot be reattached.

Ewwww, I've never heard of this, and I'm glad. That sounds really gross.
It is not how much we have, but how much we enjoy, that makes happiness.

I purchased a tea a week or so ago and my friend and I laughed because the rim was huge so we're like hah, maybe it's the car..
We took off the lid and yeah it had already been unrolled, not to mention there was coffee stains on the outside of the lid.
So dirty I don`t want anyones thumbs around my cup who knows where they`ve been

Call the health inspector for restaurants. Pretty sure that would count as a health violation, what if whoever rolls up the rim didn't wash their hands first and had come in contact with something containing E-coil or something? Probably a little far fetched but you never know, better to be safe than sorry.
