SDM: $141.25 value for FREE + a surprise from cashier!

A few things happened prior to this past Saturday's redemption at SDM.

1) Stockpile running low!
2) found an SDM GC that's been in hiding since last December. And when i thought about it some more i realized that i must have had a return back then from the mega redemption so it's really my SDM points in cash - so free!
3) bonus redemption saturday and sunday...though it turned out to be only for beauty items.
sadly i didn't need beauty stuff but i figured to go anyway and just redeem for the $85 in groceries.

Well, I started out with just over 56K in points and planned to do two transactions...one to redeem points and the second to spend $50 and get the $10 promo card (the GC I found had $41 on it so my OOP was very low and i'd make money with the promo card!) couldn't pass up that opportunity.

so, i went around the store grabbing my listed items, a few change ups due to some items not in stock. had a "shock and awe" moment - all the wonderful produce that my store used to have (tomatoes, corn, lettuce, beans, apples, oranges, potatoes, celery, and more) was replaced by rows and rows of bottled juices! no no no no no! turns out they still offer tomatoes, oranges, lettuce and apples but the other good stuff is gone.

in the end I redeemed 50K points for $85, used $4 in coupons and scored 2000 bonus points (aquafina and something else gave bonus).

Score #1.- free groceries!

Score #2 - cashier gave me the $10 promo card for spending more than $50 (even though i redeemed points)! cool surprise!

Score #3 came when I realized during my second transaction that the 2000 bonus points brought my remaining total to just over 8K (a $10 redemption!). So cashier rang in everything, i used my gc and redeemed for another $10 off! woohoo!
AND I got another $10 promo card.

So $141 in groceries and toddler items for $9.49 OOP and I've got $20 in my wallet for the first grocery trip in September. I'm on a quest to lower my grocery bill each month and it's been going quite well. these extra savings cards came at just the right time! thanks SDM...you rock!

thanks redhdlois! yes they sell some produce...it used to be a full shelf with lots of variety but sadly it's been decreased to just a few items. no complaints...free is free and I like it!
