Brick Mansions - 7.5/10
Paul Walker's last complete performance before his death. Such a shame, I really really liked him

The Giver. 9 out of 10. I recently read the book and felt they did a good job representing it in the film. Yes, there were some changes. The love interest, for example, wasn't prominently featured in the novel, but I thought it was a good addition to the story. Also, the ending (which was very ambiguous in the novel) was equally ambiguous in the film. They managed to have it end in such a way that those who crave Hollywood neat and tidy happy endings could still feel like they got one while those who enjoy open ended stories could walk away feeling like they got that too. It was kind of neat how they managed that.
Guardians of the Galaxy 8 out of 10. A little too violent for my liking (as a parent whose kids were watching it) but loveable characters.
Planes Fire and Rescue "I want my two hours back out of 10" LOL. I watched this ONLy because I had to. We went to the drive in and it was the first film. I had to watch it in order to watch Guardians of the Galaxy--which is the one I was most interested in seeing. Planes was so cliche and tacky and honestly, it's such a clear copycat of Disney's "Cars" movie--right down to the ever-so-predictable and copy cat characters--that I wonder how those Disney people can sleep at night knowing that they sloughed off this kind of garbage on kids."Be yourself. Everyone else is already taken." Oscar Widle

Grand Budapest Hotel - 9/10
What a delightful treat this movie was. Such a nice change of pace from action/adventure or rom/com crap. My only complaint was the abrupt ending, hence the 9-rating.

Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit 7.5/10
IMDB users gave it 6.2 but I thought it was much better than that.

I needed the box of tissues handy for Hugo, but I give it a 9/10 for the lovely content, comical mishaps and enjoyable cast ( I finally watched this with a free coupon code from Red Box ) This was the kind of movie my kids would have loved when they were about 5-8 years old. I also watched Side Effects with my other free code...will not give anything away, but good twists inside the plot! ( I give it a firm 8/10. Rooney Mara and Jude law gave strong performances, Channing Tatum was the eye candy....lol )

Vampire Academy - 2/10
I saw this by fluke since Redbox was out of any movies I was interested in. I just finished the book, which was pretty good so thought: why not?
Not great acting, story line all jumbled up (compared to book), overall not good. Lol

Bad words 6/10
It had some really funny spots but I guess maybe I expected more. Love Jason Bateman! I rented it for free with the redbox THURSDAY code.
