I could have SWORN I heard a radio ad awhile back, saying that Sobeys will price match. But I looked on their website, nothing. I called my local Sobeys, they said, "We don't usually do that." I asked, does that mean you do it sometimes or not at all? Her response was to pass me off to the department I wanted to match in, I didn't bother talking to them.
Superstore has Butterball turkeys on sale right now for $1.49 a pound, I'd rather buy it at Sobeys - closer, and Air Miles! This thread is currently associated with: Real Canadian Superstore RCSS, Sobeys

I emailed them, no response, so I finally called HO. Apparently they DO price match, but only if the item is on the front page of BOTH flyers. So in other words, no they don't - if it's on sale in both stores, I'm betting it's for close to the same. Oh well!

I've heard first page of the flyer... not sure if it's both store flyers or just Sobeys.

I have a followup to this story!
So, I'd emailed them and didn't get a quick response, so I called, was told the 'only the first page' thing and went and bought my turkey at Superstore.
Since then, I got an email back from Sobeys. They wanted to correct the answer I got from the store, and they contacted the store manager. He agreed that he would price match for me this time on the turkey to make it right. I decided that I'd buy another turkey, most of Superstore's were fairly small. So I got a bigger one, the original price was over $50 and I got it for about $23! Honestly, who buys a $50 turkey?
So thumbs up for Sobeys IMO!

For a Butterball at regular price, that's not as huge a turkey as you think. They go for about $3.50 a pound regular price at Sobeys! Crazy! So this bird is about a 15 pounder, not huge at all for four adults and a giant five year old.
My brother comes to join us from California each Thanksgiving - he's a healthy eater, runs a lot, doesn't ingest tons of food...until he's here. This is his break, and wow can he eat. So we need a big turkey!
One year when he came, I'd won several 11 litre cartons of ice cream on the radio, had plenty left. Not so much when he went home! Was glad for him to eat it all!

I'm confused. Is it just front page deals on other store's flyers they will price match or all flyer prices from other stores?

I'm not sure how Nat got the turkey for the Superstore price. Here's what Sobeys HO emailed me:
"The Sobeys Price Match Promise states we will not knowingly be undersold on any item on the front page of our flyer, brand for brand, grade for grade, size for size by any major supermarket's advertised price in a particular store's area."
However, they agreed to price match for me just this time because of the response I got when I called my local Sobeys. As far as I can tell, their policy is to only price match the front page of their flyer. If the item isn't on the front page of their flyer, no price match.

ohh - i went to customer service and asked if they pm SS specifically and they said "if it's on the front page" - they didn't say their frontpage - so she called the manager and she said the same thing "if it's on the front page" - so i showed her the SS flyer and she we were good to go - she personally escorted me to the bb turkeys and had the meat person wait until i picked out my turkeys - the meat person just retagged with the new price - not sure if anything was noted on their end - hopefully they didn't mess up as i would like to pm again if something good comes up
