That sucks ..atleast Monday should be off :( ..can't do much about Sat/Sun unfortunately as they are not official holidays & in retail they will make you work on that day.

I like working stats, I get paid time and a half. My boss asked my a few days ago if I wanted to work on Monday and I said YES!
I work at a gas station and we are open 365 days a year. I work all holidays including Christmas. my boss and I have a deal that if I work a holiday I get a whole weekend off. my usual day off is sunday, and working in retail getting a weekend off is pretty rare. Christmas day we all only work 4 hours and my retailer is working with us. last year his wife all bought us really expensive perfume for working on Christmas.
I am a stay at home mom which I love. but people are often under the impression that means I don't have to work and that everyday is a vacation... in reality I honestly never get a day off, vacation, or even a break... although later this year I will get a bit of a break when my oldest starts school and it will just be me and the youngest for a few hours when ds1 is in school and dh is at work.
My husband owns his own small business with no employees. Plenty of time off but no such thing as the standard work day, weekend or long weekend. Often has to stay up really late too... He never complains..
its just his sacrifice to do his passion...
...sometimes I do (complain) when customers call at dinner time...
But i'm glad it allows me to stay at home with our kids :)
OP.... i understand your frustration, people automatically assume that you get weekends off and long weekends
a colleague at one of my p/t jobs remarked to me that it must suck to work weekends and i must be really tired!!
she absolutely refuses to work weekends
work is work, you get it while you can!!!!
